Ionic polymer metal composites are a type of electroactive polymers, they are composed of an ionomer membrane sandwiched between two conducting high surface area electrodes. They act as an actuator under the application of a relatively small applied electric voltage in the order of 1 to 4V, producing large strains compared to other actuators. The middle membrane acts as an eclectic insulator that allows ions to move from one electrode to the other. The negatively charged high surface area electrode attracts the positively charged mobile cations resulting in actuation. IPMCs also operate in sensing mode by generating electricity when subject to mechanical deformations. This versatility in operation makes them good candidates for a number of complex applications including biomimetics, micro-robotics, and medical catheters. These different application demand complex geometries and high level of performance. The electrode morphology has been proven to play a critical role in the performance of IPMCs. In this thesis, the process of 3D printing the IPMC along with the electrodes using FDM 3D printing is investigated. Our method will enable the 3D printing of both: the Nafion insulating center layer, and a Ruthenium Dioxide-Nafion mixture composing the high surface area electrode. The electrodes performance will be evaluated against the traditional impregnation reduction method for electrode plating applied to a 3D printed membrane. Also, the performance of a membrane made by hot-pressing Nafion pellets, a traditional Nafion membrane fabrication method, will be used to validate the 3D printing process. The 3D printed electrodes achieved a strain of 3.71E-4 which was lower than the strain of impregnation reduction method at 1.14 E-3. This was attributed to excessive flaking and poor mixing of the Ruthenium Dioxide particles in the polymer matrix.

A preliminary study was carried out in Kuku Zoo on administrative performance, animal welcare, and visitor interest satisfaction towards the services rendered to them in the Zoo.The study was conducted in the period (2-31 December, 2018).The methods used are three questionnaire forms distributed randomly to the Zoo administration personnel's, Zoo worker and Zoo visitors (30 forms for each), in addition to daily direct observations of animals cages or enclosures and feeding quality and quantity and feeding. The results revealed insignificant differences, SPSS- Chi Squire (ᵡ2) P>0.05for administrative performance. There is no significant variation (chi squares)P>0.05 in training course for employees ,administration personals ,veterinary services for the animals, animals vaccination ,Quarantine , food formulation ,suitability of housing, animal behavior, feeding adequacy ,suitability of visiting time, effect of recreation activities, safety of animals and visitors, regulation observation ,animal distribution ,research obstacles, and workers problems. The remaining variables showed significant variation (chi square P0.05).

Medicinal herbs are an important source of natural bioactive molecules. They have various biological properties and they have always been used by traditional healers in the therapeutic field for various pathologies for their contents of a wide variety of bioactive substances. In Algeria, we are trying to better understand the heritage of these spontaneous species used in traditional medicine as well as their active ingredients. In this context, a phytochemical study and antioxidant analysis of the aqueous extracts of two parts of southern Algeria species (El-Bayad) belonging to the Asteraceae family are conducted: It is Asteriscus graveolens. The phytochemical study to demonstrate the colorimetric dosage of total polyphenols (by the Folin-Ciocalteu method) and to evaluate the antioxidant activity in vitro by the test anti-free radical action towards the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical. The quantitative assay shows the present of different contents between branches and leaves with the quantity of 30.114 ± 1.1 and 152.455 ± 0.22 mg EAG / g of dry matter respectively. The extracts showed a strong antioxidant power by the DPPH test with values of CI50 of 9.43 ± 0.01 and 59.6 ± 0.01 μg / mL in aqueous extracts of branches and leaves respectively. This species is, therefore, a source of natural antioxidants. Powerful antioxidant activity recorded in both parties could be linked to their high levels of compounds phenolic.
