In this thesis, 𝑍𝑛𝑂,𝐼𝑛−𝑍𝑛𝑂,𝑍𝑛𝑂−𝐶𝑑𝑂and𝐼𝑛−𝑍𝑛𝑂−𝐶𝑑𝑂powders have been successfully synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The main objective of this work is to develop a new 𝑍𝑛𝑂-based nanocomposite system, antimicrobial and photocatalytic at same time. The influence of 𝐼𝑛and 𝐶𝑑on the structural, morphological and optical properties of 𝑍𝑛𝑂isinvestigated, using the XRD, FTIR,optical microscope and UV-VisSpectrum, respectively. The XRDresults confirm on the one hand that all the powders have a hexagonal würtzite structure of 𝑍𝑛𝑂, and on the other hand, the detection of the small external phases of𝐼𝑛2𝑂3, 𝐶𝑑(𝑂𝐻)2and 𝐶𝑑𝑂. The particle size has been found to be nanometric ranging from 403𝑛𝑚𝑡𝑜772𝑛𝑚.The vibration modes of functional groups 𝑍𝑛−𝑂,𝐼𝑛−𝑂and 𝐶𝑑−𝑂were revealed from the FTIR analysis. UV-visible spectra show that the absorption capacity of nanocomposites is significantly improved in the visible. Finally, 𝑍𝑛𝑂−𝐶𝑑𝑂showed the highest photocatalytic performance, 96%of methyl orange is degraded during 110𝑚𝑖𝑛under solar irradiation, and significant antibacterial activityespecially against micrococcus (35𝑚𝑚)and Bacillus (30𝑚𝑚). Therefore, the formation of heterogeneous 𝑛−𝑛nanocomposites of 𝑍𝑛𝑂−𝐶𝑑𝑂makes photocatalytic and antibacterial activity more effective than that of single 𝑍𝑛𝑂.
