Across -section study was conducted from December 2013 to Novemer 2015, to determine the prevalence of brucellosis in camels (Camelus dromedarius) in Alzulfi Governorate, north Sudi Arabia. A total of 750 camels in 59 herds were included in the study from In farming (375) , and Around grazing (375) . Of these, 71.9% (539 out of 750) and 28.1% (211 out of 750) were female and male camels respectively. A total of 750 blood samples were collected and screened by RBPT. Forty nine samples tested positive giving an individual prevalence rate of 6.5% (49/ 750).All RBPT positive reactors were further tested by C-ELISA for confirmation. C-ELISA confirmed 24 seropositive out of 49 RBPT reactors (49%). Thirty three herds were found seropositive among the 59 herds included in the study giving herd prevalence of 55,9% .The prevalence of the disease in infarming camels was 9,9% which is higher than those in around grazing 3,2 with significant statistical difference at the multiveriate level(p 5). Immature animals ( 5 years). In this study the seroprevalence ofbrucellosiswas3,9 % in young and 7.7 % in adult camels. Mixed rearing of camels with other ruminants (cattle, sheep and goat) showed no significant effect on the prevalence of camel brucellosis (P <0.05). Camels reared with other ruminants showed a seroprevalence of 6,9% which was higher than that in camels kept alone.Conversely, breed, herd, herdtype, feeding, production type, contact with other camel herd type, milking hygiene, herd man education, awareness of brucellosis (P <0.02) in the multivariate analysis. Multivariate analysis showed that herd size comprising more than 20 camels was significantly associated with seroprevalence of camel brucellosis. The results of the present study provide the status of seropositivity to Brucella in camels in Alzulfi governorate and the risk factors that contribute to seropositivity in dromedaries and showed that brucellosis is widely distributed disease among camel herds in Alzulfi governorate

Customer Perceptions of the Social Media Marketing of Weight Loss Injections (WLIs)

Maryam AlMahdi, Rawan Awad

This study examines how consumers perceive social media marketing of weight loss injections (WLIs), empirically investigating factors such as contextual quality, representational quality, and the expertise of social media marketing, and how customer perceptions influence their attitudes and behavioral intentions towards weight loss injections. Given the rising popularity of GLP-1 weight loss injections, such as Ozempic and Saxenda, and the increasing role of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, bloggers' reviews and advertisements in shaping public opinion, the study investigates how social media marketing affects perceived benefits, risks, attitudes, and behavioral intentions of the customers exposed. A quick approach by sharing a structured online survey through social media, gathering responses from 388 participants. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that when information shared on social media about weight loss injections was timely, relevant, and visually transparent (in terms of both contextual and representational quality), people were more likely to perceive both the benefits and the risks associated with it. Interestingly, when the person sharing the information seemed knowledgeable or credible (expert), it made people view the benefits more positively, but did not have a significant effect on how risky they thought the injections were. Overall, those who did not see benefits and felt the risks were lower were more likely to have a positive attitude, which strongly shaped their intention to try the injections. The findings offer practical implications to shed light on how powerful social media marketing can be in shaping customers' health choices, emphasizing the need for marketers to communicate effectively and for regulatory authorities to monitor this growing trend. Future research may consider more diverse groups and explore the topic using qualitative methods to gain deeper insights and capture richer perspectives.

Theoretical Investigation of Organic Molecules as a Candidate for Optoelectronic Applications

This work involves two novel scientific works, and can be abstracted as follows: The first study demonstrates thiophene/phenylene co-oligomers (TPCOs) molecular junctions of particular interest because of their electronic and structural features, which introduce them as suitable candidates for optical and thermoelectric applications. Utilizing the density functional theory (DFT) methods, and the Green’s function formalism, this work involves a theoretical investigation of optical, structural, electronic, and thermoelectric properties of thiophene/phenylene co-oligomers (TPCOs) with different molecular lengths. This work predicates an important result, which is an increase of the (TPCOs) units (P3T–P11T), and leads to a significant increase in the emission oscillator strength (𝑓𝑒𝑚) (1.6–4.5). In contrast, the lowest electrical conductance (0.1×10^-7) is presented via the longest molecular length (5.561 nm), while it exhibits the highest thermopower (-23.42 μV/K), which in turn leads to high ZT_e (1.93×10^-2). This may aid in innovating promising new candidates for the design of optical and thermoelectric devices, as well as the active mediums for lasers. The second study of this thesis exhibits a theoretical investigation using the density functional theory methods of electronic and spectral properties for a family of Oligo(phenylene-ethynylene) OPEs with pyridyl linker groups, with different transport connections para, ortho, and meta. These showed that changing the transport connections from para to meta or ortho results in changing the intensity of the absorption from (84248 a.u.) for the molecule PPP with three para transport connection points to (40809 a.u.) for the molecule MMM with three meta transport connection points, and the lowest value (5964 a.u.) of the absorption intensity is presented by the PMP molecule, whereas the highest value (87102 a.u.) is introduced via the OPO molecule. In addition, it could be observed that the maximum wavelength (λ_max) for all molecules lies in the visible region, with a fluctuation from (317 nm) for PMP to (372 nm) for MMM (365.4 nm). Based on these results, it can be concluded that changing the transport connections from para to meta or ortho not only affects the intensity of the absorption, but also leads to a displacement in wavelengths. In contrast, PPP, MPM, and OPO produce the highest f_em (2.08, 2.145, and 5.15 respectively), while MMM and PMP show the lowest f_em (0.154 and 0.145 respectively).

Since its creation, the earth has always been bathed in a cocktail of natural radioactivity. Its content varies from location to another and from depth to another. Radiations arisen fromthese radionuclides constitutes hazard to human health. Therefore the radioactivitymeasurement is necessary to evaluate the effects of these radiations. In the recent years, many studies give an importance to activity concentrationmeasurements of natural radionuclides in sediment which plays an important role in aquaticecosystems. It is considered the main source of continuous radiation exposure of human andas considered a medium of migration for the transfer of radionuclides to the biologicalsystems. The aim of the present work is to study the distribution of natural radioactivity in BeniHaroun dam; the largest dam in Algeria. For this reason, sediment samples collected fromdifferent locations in this dam and from rivers feeding it. Activity concentrationmeasurements of natural radionuclides in these samples were carried out using a high puritygermanium detector (HPGe).The 226Ra, 232Th and 40K mean activity were found to be 23.48 ± 3.85, 23.48±14.03 and196.28± 31.00 Bq/kg, respectively. Also, radiological hazard parameters due to thesesediment samples were estimated based on these specific activities. Finally, the results of thepresent study were discussed and compared with internationally recommended values.
