We must also rethink the architectural space and recreate it so that it issensitive to human needs, particularly in terms of physical or mental health. An important factor to consider is comfort. By gathering my brief and my research, we presentthe importance of psychological comfort, especially in hospital spaces. We thus add thedimension of sound comfort, parameter that plays a role in the psychology of the human being. In the absence of this factor, which can influence the psychological atmosphere of a clinic orsimilar equipment, states of stress and anxiety can occur when the user is present in thatlocation. The psychological atmosphere should not be underestimated; even sound comfort takes all itsimportance. Patients need to stay in a quiet room or listen to quiet music to boost morale. Thesetwo themes of my thesis are interdependent and my research objective is to prove it and toprovide all possible solutions to create a perfect sanitary space with regard to this comfort. To make my research more concrete, I start with the theoretical part. It provides all the relevantinformation for my two related topics, but also explores architectural spaces through sanitaryfacilities. To then integrate case studies and simulations for a better research progress and haveresults to better manipulate future renderings.

Amal Mannai, Hichem Ben Salem

The contamination of animal feed by mycotoxigenic fungi and their mycotoxins causes important economic losses in the livestock sector and could affect human and animal health. The main objective of this doctoral thesis is to identify and to quantify the fungi and mycotoxins naturally present in animal feed (i.e. forages, concentrate feeds, crop residues and agroindustrial by-products) that are incorporated in diets for dairy cattle and Sicilo-Sarde ewes. It also aimed to evaluate the potential transmission of these mycotoxins to milk and to study the effect of essential oil (EOs) oral administration on intake, feeding behaviour and milk production and quality of Sicilo-Sarde ewes. Thus, three trials including an invitro trial and two in vivotrials were conducted. In trial 1, a typology was carried out in 32 dairy farms in northern Tunisia and a descriptive survey was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire in order to evaluate the nutritional, toxicological quality and the sensory profile of the silage of different fodder species from harvesting, packaging until its use (60 days of fermentation and 40 days after the silo opening) and in the three silo sections (upper, central and lower) after 100 days after silage silo settlement. The extraction of mycotoxins was carried out according to the QuEChERS procedure and analyzed by liquid and gas chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS) to assess the presence of 23 mycotoxins simultaneously. The obtained results show that 40% of the post-fermented samples have a number of colony forming units (CFU) exceeding the recommended threshold for animal feeding (1 X104CFU/g). A predominance of the genera Fusarium, Penicillium, Aspergillus and Verticillium has been reported in pre-and post-fermented silage, including F. culmorum, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. nigerand P. chrysogenum which are the most present species. Only Fusarium mycotoxins including deoxynivalenol (DON), HT-2 toxin, zearalenone (ZEA), enniatins (ENA1,ENB and ENB1), beauvericin (BEA) and Alternaria particularly tentoxin (TENT) are detected at concentrations that did not exceed the threshold authorized by the European Commission. This study revealed that mycotoxins are produced by Fusarium spin the field and appear to be resistant to fermentation. The presence of this fungi depends on forage species mainly oat silage and its distribution is strictly heterogeneous in the silo. The chemical composition and the sensory profile of the silage indicate that the safety of the plants in the field and the appropriate management of the silo throughout its phase of establishment, filling, covering and feeding are considered key factors for the success of silage. In order to assess the risk of food chain contamination, the occurrence of mycotoxins in the diet and their residues in the milk of dairy cattle was studied. The results revealed the presence of nine mycotoxins with the dominance of ENB in the concentrated feeds (P < 0.05). The latter was found in 82% of the milk samples with an average concentration of 16.36 ng/mL. The second trial focussed onthe chemical and toxicological characterization of triticale (Triticum secale) silage and artichoke residues silage (Cynara cardunculus var. Scolymus (L.) Benth, leaves and stems) and the determination of the effect of their incorporation on ruminal in vitro fermentation in terms of digestion end-products (ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), methane (CH4) and volatile fatty acids (VFAs)). The proportions of produced VFAs and the concentrations of CH4, individual VFAs and NH3-N revealed no significant difference (P > 0.05) between triticale and artichoke residue silages. Trial 3 was conducted on dairy ewes of the Sicilo-Sardebreed which received EOs from two woody plants (Pistacia lentiscus and Thymus vulgaris). It came up with the conclusion that the administration of these EOs at 200 mg/kg of dry matter to these animals receiving feed naturally contaminated by mycotoxinogenic fungi of the genus Penicilliumsp and Aspergillus sp improves milk quality without affecting their production performance. Based on the results of the three trials, it is concluded that the concentrations of studied mycotoxines in feed sources and milk do not represent any risk on ruminant health and consequently on human.

ETUDE DE FONCTIONNEMENT DE LA NAPPE KARSTIQUE DES MONTS DE SIDI KADA PAR LES METHODES HYDROCHIMIQUES

Azzaz Habib, Benyekhlef Benamina

(This study focuses on the hydrodynamic and hydrochemical functioning of the karst system in Sidi Kada Mountains. These later extend between the Ghriss plain in the North and the Saida Mountains in the South. The hydrochemical approach was used to understand the hydrodynamic behaviour of the karst system which is represented by dolomitic limestone formation of Upper Jurassic. The geological data were used to delimit an impluvium with an area of 535.1 km2 and a perimeter of 220.7 km. The functioning of this karst system was studied using several physic-chemical parameters, namely pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, TDS, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, HCO3–, Cl–, NO3–, SO42–. Frequency distributions of the water electrical conductivity (CFD) indicate that the system is characterized by two hydrodynamic sub-regimes, in which fracture networks control the base flow and conduit networks control the quick flow. The results of the hydrochemical analysis show that the waters facies are bicarbonated and magnesian. During periods of high water, the contents of chemical elements decreased, except for calcium and nitrates. During periods of low water, the participation of the saturated zone generates an increase in Mg2+ contents. The waters are typically characterised by an average conductivity of 848 μS/cm in deep waters. The shallow waters, influenced by anthropogenic actions, have an average conductivity of 1344 μS/cm and waters where exists the evaporite lenticular mass have relatively high values of conductivity, ranging from 1886 to 2644 μS/cm 2102 with an average of 2102 μS/cm. The good correlation between the chlorides and sulphates indicates the leaching of the soil layer. The correlation between Ca2+ and SO42− is negative but weak (r = –0.176), implied that Ca2+ was no derived from gypsum in the majority of samples. In contrast the water points whose chemistry is marked by the dissolution of gypsum or anhydrites have a good correlation between Ca2+ and SO42− (r = 0.93). The supersaturating regarding calcite and dolomite indices indicates mainly a flow in the saturated zone and through the unsaturated zone with a relatively high pCO2 (from 1.5 × 10–2 to 4 × 10–2). Biogenic CO2 initiates the mineralisation process in the unsaturated zone within an open system. The relationship between the saturation indices regarding calcite and dolomite shows that 87% of water varied from equilibrium and oversaturated. This is indicative of a slightly aggressive water with relatively slow circulation)

The Quality of Teaching Using Summative Domain of the 360 Multicourse Feedback Model: A Case Study in Health Sector Faculties University of Gezira, Sudan 2012

Ozaz Yagoub Mohammed Ahmed

Teaching evaluation instruments offer quality assurance measures by providing empirical data to all levels of health professions educators and can be utilized for both formative and summative purposes. This prospective analytical cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the quality of teaching using the summative domain of the 360 multicourse feedback model. It was carried out in health Faculties- university of Gezira –Gezira state – Sudan during the period November 2011 to April 2012. All health Faculties in the University of Gezira were included in the study, except the Faculty of health & Environmental sciences. The Faculties included were: Medicine, Medical laboratory sciences , Applied Medical sciences, Pharmacy and Dentistry. The study population consisted of 268 final year students who represented 92% from total study populations, 49 teaching staff who represented 74% and 20 of administrators (deans, deputy deans & heads of departments) who represented 44%. Data were collected by three different tools: questionnaire, focus group discussion and direct interviews, quantitative data and qualitative information was entered into and processed by SPSS version 12. Findings showed that there was a highly significant difference between the three study populations rating of teaching in all items (P= 0.000). Students underestimated teaching quality and the teachers overestimate their teaching abilities while the administrators were neutral because they had no clear method to evaluate the teaching process. The obtained results clearly showed that the instruments used in this study were reliable but require some modifications, like the scaling of options which should be two positive, two negative and one neutral, before they can be labeled valid. It is recommended that the administrators should work hard and devise means of evaluation for the teaching process, as well as continuous professional training of their staff.
