- Moringa oleiferaor "tree of life" is a tree belonging to the family Moringaceae, native to India. Itis described in the literature as a plant nutritional and medicinal interest. This work aims to determine the overall chemical composition (total sugars, ash, reducing sugars, fat, crude protein and different classes of proteins), and the phenolic content(soluble total phenols, flavonoids, hydrolysable tannins and phenols unrelated to protein) extracted with various solvents (distilled water, methanol 60, methanol80and methanol 100) leaves of Moringa oleiferaconsiderate of southern Algeria, as well asqualitative analysis of some secondary metabolites (saponins, alkaloids, terpenoids and tannins). The results of this study show that the Moringa oleifera leaves contain significant levels of total sugar, ash, reducing sugar, fat and crude protein. The quantification of bioactive molecules has revealed the presence of soluble total phenols, flavonoids, hydrolyzable tannins and phenol unrelated to protein with significantly different levels according to the extraction solvent. A Phytochemicals test enablesthe detection of saponins, alkaloids, terpenoids and tannins. From this we draw thatcan make a good source of phenolic compounds
