Wind towers, whose function lies in pulling air from the top and directing it into the building, and lattice windows, which control air flow and sun light in addition to attain privacy, are considered the most significant ventilation systems that historic architecture had witnessed. According to the results of modern and scientific studies, the design of these elements and the diversity of its types to meet the requirements of environmental influences, indicates how much is the architectural genius, geometric excellence, and the vast vision which had compiled between social private requirements, the environmental needs, and the economic challenges. At the same time it did not ignore the aesthetic aspects. These elements attain continuinity in traditional buildings since hundred years ago. It needs to be studied in which it can be applied to nowadays contemporary architecture and in order to be improved. This research aims at studying wind towers and lattice windows in traditional architecture from a historical and engineering aspects, and analytical study of these elements in Old Aleppo City to reach the reasons of its neglected, and replace it with modern mechanic elements. With a reference to modern techniques and studies to build modern wind towers and lattice windows, and that is to emphasize the importance of these traditional architecture elements and the necessity of taking advantages of the modern techniques for its significant role in ventilating the interior spaces an improving the in going air through modern techniques.
