Power transformers are one of the major components in electric network. The service area of power transformers is quite large which means that the failure of such equipment will cause huge losses for power companies. Therefore, continuous monitoring of power transformers and preventing such failures is of great importance. During operation, power transformers are affected by different stresses such as electrical, thermal and mechanical stresses. Also, the presence of some defects within the transformer insulation under the applied electrical stress may initiate internal partial discharges. Previous experience has shown that internal partial discharges can cause serious damages for the insulation. Different methods like acoustic, optical and RF sensors were proposed to detect the partial discharge activity. Compared to other techniques, acoustic detection methods are cost effective and less susceptible to noise and interference. In addition, partial discharge (PD) source can be located using multiple acoustic sensors. However, acoustic methods have some drawbacks such as low sensitivity and high attenuation of acoustic signals. In this thesis, artificial neural networks are utilized to enhance the acoustic PD detection under different insulation conditions. Experimental results have shown that high detection rates of PD can be obtained under different conditions. Also, classification of insulation condition based on the acquired acoustic PD signals was successful.

Mobile learning (m-learning) as a kind of learning model allowing learners to obtain learning materials anywhere and anytime using mobile technologies and the Internet. The quality of mobile learning systems is one of the factors that determine the usability of these systems. The quality of mobile learning systems is needed to be evaluated and investigated. There is also a need to determine the attributes that affect the quality of these systems.The main objectives of this study is to determine the attributes that affect the quality of mobile learning systems and propose a model for evaluating the mobile learning systems. The model introduced the factors (technical feasibility, didactic efficiency, cost effectiveness, user friendliness) as the attributes that affect the quality of mobile learning systems. The attributes of the model were verified using a questionnaire. The data from questionnaire were collected and analyzed.The results showed that the average mean of technical feasibility and didactic efficiency and cost effectiveness and user friendliness with comparison between students and lecturers show that the lecturers more efficiently than students. The results also showed that the correlation between quality factors were positive. After the completion of this study, it is recommended that more techniques should be used to enhance the mobile learning systems. In addition mobile learning systems must be usable, learnable, more efficient and more effective.

Cette étude vise à évaluer les propriétés physicochimiques, phytochimiques ainsi que l’activité antioxydant et anti-inflammatoire des extraits de Asparagus acutifolius L., dans le but de mettre en évidence sa richesse en composés bioactifs. L’extraction a été réalisée à l’aide de solvants (éthanol 70 % et eau distillée 30 %). Les analyses physicochimiques ont montré une humidité de 15 %, un taux de cendres de 7 %, une matière organique de 93 %, un pH variant de 6,33 à 6,11 selon la durée d’extraction, et une acidité titrable de 8,5. L’évaluation phytochimique a révélé une teneur élevée en polyphénols dans l’extrait éthanolique (de 118,75 mg GAE/g à 445 mg GAE/g entre 3 h et 48 h), tandis que la teneur en flavonoïdes a diminué au fil du temps (de 12,7 à 4,2 mg GAE/g). L’analyse qualitative a confirmé la présence des saponines, tanins, térpénoïdes et caroténoïdes. L’activité antioxydant, évaluée par le test DPPH, a été particulièrement marquée dans l’extrait aqueux. Ces résultats démontrent que Asparagus acutifolius L. est riche en composés bioactifs aux propriétés intéressantes, ce qui en fait une plante prometteuse pour le développement des produits naturels à visée thérapeutique ou nutritionnelle.

AbstractThe purpose behind the present study is to depict the changes in Ghana brought by colonialism and to describe the situations of the Ghanaian society as reflected by Armah's novel The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born. The work casts light on the characteristics of people, their conditions and life before and after the British colonialism and the way in which Armah described such situation in his writings. Besides, this dissertation discusses post-colonialism as an era of struggle and challenges for the Ghanaians and how it is later represented in the African literature. As a case study, Armah's novel The Beautyful Once Are Not Yet Born had been the appropriate writings to portray the African condition after independence. Consequently, the post-colonial theory provides an appropriate literary device for a better understanding of the work. For a future prospective, this study can illustrate more information about Armah's literary work regarding how post-independent societies are depicted in the novel. Moreover, the results show that the British colonialism had negatively affected post colonial societies in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

L'évolution des composants électrique de puissance à base de semi-conducteur a permis un développement spectaculaire dans le domaine de l'électronique de puissance et des convertisseur statiques à thyristors qui donnent la possibilité de faire varier facilement et rapidement l'amplitude et la fréquence des tensions alternatives fournies par les réseaux de distribution d'énergie. L'alimentation des machines asynchrones par ces circuits de puissance permet leur utilisation comme variateurs de vites se, grâce aux nombreuses structures de convertisseurs qui permettent d'assurer les divers types d'alimentation nécessaires. Cependant pour plusieurs applications bien précises, ces ensembles convertisseurs-machines sont encore mal adaptés, particulièrement lorsqu'il s'agit de tourner à des vitesses très élevées, ils posent toujours le problème de freinage de l'ensemble. Donc, le procédé original de notre travail consiste à apporter une contribution et une analyse à ce phénomène de freinage en contrôlant les grandeurs électriques et mécaniques en agissant sur la partie électronique. Après avoir comparé les différents composants électroniques adaptés pour le choix du convertisseur statique alimentant la machine pendant 1 e frein age par récupération, i 1 fallait étudier la machine alimentée à travers le convertisseur statique en régime permanent, par le schéma équivalent et en régime dynamique en présentant l'ensemble des équations convertisseurs-machines sous forme d'état. Cette étude a permis de construire fonctionnel global de l'ensemble. d'équation le schéma La mise en équation du système global de puissance convertisseur-machine sous forme d'équation d'état dépend de des thyristors, du couple résistant et de la vitesse de rotation. Ainsi ont développées plusieurs configurations d'asservissement et de régulation de vitesse et de puissances, lesquelles puissances sont, soit du côté stator ou côté rotor, pour différents signaux de commande de référence.
