ABSTRACTFe70Al30 alloy powders were prepared by mechanical alloying using high energy ball mill. The formation of the solid solution and of milling time up to 48 h was followed by the characterization techniques:X-ray diffraction (XRD), Dispersion energy (EDX), Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS) and magnetic measurement. The the solid solution á-Fe(Al) started after 4 h of milling and we also noted that formation of the alloy is obtained after 27 h. XRD results also when the milling time increases, the lattice parameter and the formation of the ferromagnetic disordered á-Fe(Al) phase characteristic of our alloy in the presence of a paramagnetic phase rich in Al but after 27 h of milling. The saturation magnetization and the were determined from the hysteresis loops, it was determined that Msdecreases then increases as Hc increases then decreases with .Study of the substitution of (Fe70Al30) by Si within the range of concentrations(5, 10, 15 and 20) showed the formation of the á-Fe (Al,Si) solid solution for all concentrations. It was observed that the addition of Si increases the the alloy and therefore it becomes more fragile. With this weaker behavior, that the fracture during the milling process is predominant. SM magnetic measurements indicated that the ferromagnetic behavior increase the proportion of Si in the alloy.
