الملخص

This study aims to investigate the effect of corpus consultation on learners' writing performance and attitudes at Sultan Qaboos University.The study population consists of 52 students enrolled in the Writing 2 course (LANC 1120) in the Language Center in the spring semester 2012. The sample comprises two intact classes (N=20). One class functioned as the experimental group and the other as the control group. Both groups used the traditional reference tools in editing written drafts in addition to the corpus program in the experimental group.Two instruments were used in the current study: a writing achievement test to measure students' performance in grammar and vocabulary. An attitude questionnaire was also developed by the researcher based on the available literature to elicit students' attitudes towards the use of the corpus in writing.The results of the study showed the following:1. There was no significant difference at the .05 level in the writing performanceof the experimental and the control groups as far as the grammar knowledge isconcerned, 2. The results of the attitude questionnaire analysis revealed that the students inthe experimental group had a highly positive attitude towards the use of the corpus in writingIn the light of these findings, recommendations are made for further research.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى معرفة أثر استخدام برنامج ال (Corpus) على اداء طلبة اللغة الإنجليزية بمركز اللغات في مهارة الكتابة و إتجاهاتهم.اشتمل مجتمع الدراسة على 52 طالبا من مركز اللغات بجامعة السلطان قابوس مسجلين في مادة الكتابة2 لفصل الربيع العام الأكاديمي 2012 / 2011 . وتكونت العينة من عشرين طالبا وطالبة موزعين على فصلين دراسيين، عشرة منهم في المجموعة التجريبية وعشرة في المجموعة الضابطة وقد تم تدريس مهارة الكتابة في المجموعة التجريبية باستخدام برنامج ال (Corpus) بالاضافة إلى الطريقة الاعتيادية في حين تم تدريس المجموعة الضابطة بالطريقة الاعتيادية فقطولقد تم تطبيق امتحان قبل تنفيذ التجربة وامتحان بعد تطبيق التجربة لقياس المستوى التحصيلي لمهارة الكتابة، كما صممت الباحثة استبانة لمعرفة أراء طلبة المجموعة التجريبية في استخدام برنامج ال (Corpus) في الكتابة.واظهرت نتائج الدراسية الآتي: 1. لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى دلالة ( 0 . 05) بين نتائج الطلبة في المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة الضابطة في تطور استخدام القواعد في الكتابة. 2. كان لدى الطلبة في المجموعة التجريبية اتجاه ايجابي نحو استخدام برنامج ال (Corpus) في الكتابة.وفي ضوء النتائج السابقة تم طرح عددا من التوصيات والمقترحات لبحوث مستقبلية.
