- Infectious surgical wounds are a frequent postoperative complication in hospitals around the world and pose a major public health problem. In this context, this study consists of isolating and identifying the pathogenic bacteria responsible for postoperative infections of surgical wounds. Samples were collected by the swabbing method from the wounds of ten (10) operated patients (hospitalized and outpatients) in two hospitals of the wilaya of Ain Temouchent (Ahmed medeghri and Dr. benzrjeb) during a period of two (02) months. A bacteriological study was carried out by microbiological and biochemical methods. Six bacterial genera were isolated: Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, Enterobacter, Klebsiella,Serratia, Aeromonas. The distribution of bacteria in the wounds of the operated patients showed a predominance of Staphylococcus infection (60%) then Serratia odorifera30%, Serratia fonticola20%, Klebsiella pneumoniae30%, Pseudomonas aeruginosa20%, Enterobacterium aerogenes10% and Aeromonas hydrophila10%.The results of this study show a bacterial diversity that plays an important role in the infection of surgical wounds.
