الملخص

This book (Failure of political Islam) was written in French by the researcher(Oliver Roy), published on October 1992 by the publishing house (Seuil) under the supervision of Jean-Louis. This book composed of 250 pages medium size and the translation is from chapter 6-chapter11. The writer has turned his attention to the phenomenon of Islamic radicalism and the Islamic politics in all their aspects. In addition, he mentioned the battle between the Islamists stream and the neo-fundamentalists. Roy is saying that Islamism has failed, while the apparently weaker and milder version, which is neo-fundamentalism, is meeting more success. He proposed that even if an Islamist group is to rule over a Muslim country, it will neither unify the Muslim world nor change the balance of power in the Middle East, but rather succeed only in making superficial changes in customs and laws. The reason behind my selection to this book as thesis for Master's degree in translation is that to know the views of the orientalists about the Islam and the Islamic movements. Also, the topic consider contemporary. In this book the writer turned to some terms from the Afghan community or Iranian community, and the methodology of translation required maintaining these terms as they are and translated the commentary of them. One of the difficulties which faced me, the approximate in the translation to reach the meaning, also it required deep study to the Islamic movements and their politics, to understand which the writer want to say it.
