The study aimed to use modern cost-management techniques, including the green target costing technique (GTC), which leads to the production of a green product that is environmentally friendly while reducing its cost and maintaining quality by preserving natural resources and the desires of customers to obtain environmentally friendly products, taking into account environmental standards and developing or achieving environmental sustainability. In addition to identifying the green product, whichis based on several dimensions, including (reducing pollution rates, avoiding the use of toxic substances harmful to the environment, reducing the use of natural resources and preserving them), the study also used one of the supporting techniques for the green target technology, which is the value engineering technique (VE) , which focuses on improving customer satisfaction for the product, material, or process that has been studied by identifying their needs and requirements and working to implement their desires. Large companies, and their importance in the agricultural sector at the level of Basra Governorate or Iraq in general, and the study found the need to use (GTC) and (VE) techniques, as in turn it is possible to identify the best appropriate solutions to issues related to shortcomings and problems experienced by economic units, the most prominent of which are environmental issues related to the product.
