الملخص

The fruits of Capparis decidua were collected inKhartoum North (El Halfaia ) and voucher specimens have beendeposited at the I-Ierbarium of Medicinal and Aromatic PlantsResearch Institute . The plant extracts were prepared byextraction with different solvents in a soxhlet apparatus I Theprepared extracts were phytochemically screened and the resultsindicated the presence of alkaloids , flavonoids , Stereols ,triterpents , tannins and [3-Carotene . The plant extracts werealso screened for their antimicrobial activity against six bacteria:Bacillus subtilis , Escherichia coli , Proteus vulga/‘is ,Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Salmonella typhi andStaphylococcus aureus and two fungi : Candida albicans andAspergillus niger . .The Chloroformic extract proved to be the most active andwas subjected to further investigation after the usual work up .Column chromatographic fractionation and preparative TLCended up with the isolation of five pure compounds . Theinfrared spectroscopic studies suggested that the compoundscould be alkaloids of the spermidine type .lll
