الملخص

L’objectif de cette étude était d'évaluer la production laitière, la composition du lait et les performances de croissance de la chèvre Bédouine native de l’Algérie en début de la lactation et d’étudier la relation entre la production laitière et la morphologie corporelle et mammaire des chèvres la ctantes. Quatorze chèvres et leurs petits ont été suivis au cours des 3 premiers mois de lactation et 21 troupeaux élevés en conditions naturelles ont été enquêtés. Les résultats du suivi et de l’enquête ont montré une production laitière journalière et des performances de croissance faibles comparée aux données de la littérature. Cependant, la teneur du lait en lipides, en protéines et en lactose était plus élevée. L’évaluation de la morphologie mammaire a montré que le système suspenseur était d’une force moyenne et que la forme des trayons n’était pas entièrement favorables à la traite. Aussi, la mamelle était peu profonde ce qui reflète son adaptation aux parcours du désert, mais ce qui n’était pas favorable à une production laitière importante. Le poids corporel, la hauteur au garrot, la hauteur à la croupe, la largeur de la mamelle et le périmètre de la mamelle étaient corrélés positivement à la production laitière journalière. Cependant cette dernière n’était pas corrélée avec la notation de la conformation mammaire et la croissance des chevreaux. Cette étude est une première étape dans la caractérisation du potentiel de production laitière et de croissance de cette race et dans la détermination de la relation entre cette production et les caractéristiques phénotypiques représentant un groupe de marqueurs de sélection qui pourraient être utilisés dans un programme d’amélioration spécifique de cette race

The aim of this research was to assess milk production, milk composition and growth performances of native Algerian Bedouin goat during early lactation and to study relationship between milk yield and body and udder morphology of lactating goats. Fourteen goats and their offspring were followed during the first three months of lactation and 21 herds reared under natural conditions were surveyed. The results of the follow-up and survey showed a lower daily milk yield and growth performances compared to the data of the literature. However, milk fat, proteins and lactose contents were higher. The assessment of mammary morphology showed that the suspensory system was of medium strength and that the shape of the teats was not entirely favorable to milking. Also, the udder was shallow which reflects its adaptation to desert rangelands, but which was not favorable to high milk production. Body weight, withers height, rump height, udder width and udder circumference were positively correlated with daily milk yield. However, the latter was not correlated with udder conformation and kids’ growth. This study is a first step in characterizing the potential of milk production and growth of this breed and in determining the relationship between this production and phenotypic characteristics representing a group of selection markers that could be used in a specific breeding program for this breed
