Qataris and Other Arabs Friendships Inside and Outside Workplace

الملخص

The purpose of the study is to examine influencing factors of Qataris and other Arabs friendships with other ethnic groups in the workplace and seek the extension of friendship outside the workplace. The study conducted a non-probability survey among 286 participants of which 170 compiled the first group (Qataris), and 116 were (other Arabs). Data findings cross-referenced with ethnocentrism theory and contact theory among other sub-theories, interpreted the effect of attitude, frequency of contact on friendship inside and outside the workplace, while hierarchy, work environment and nationality of participants have an impact on association inside workplace only. Other factors such as, gender, educational level, Job sector and length of friendship inside workplace were studied, as results showcased that in the Qatari context there is no association between these variables and friendship building inside or outside workplace.
