الملخص

The serologic response to two commercial infectious bronchitisvaccines was determined in broiler chicks in this study. The vaccinevirus strains used were Ma5 and H120. Chicks were vaccinated at 5 and 10days old, via intraocular and drinking water. Enzyme – linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to monitor the serologicresponse to the vaccines.Serum samples were tested before vaccination and at 15, 20, 25post vaccination. The two commercially live IB vaccines give goodimmunological responses in chicks even when used in relatively highMDA chicks. No clinical symptoms nor postmortum findings wereobserved following administration of the vaccines. However bodyweight measurement resulted in that H120 strain is influencing to thebody weight gain when used via drinking water at 5 – day – old ascompared to other vaccination protocols.Generally H120 gave good response than Ma5, while 5 day – oldvaccination gave better response than 10 day – old vaccination andintraocular route resulted in high antibodies than drinking water route.The result of this study are additional support for suitability of ELISAtest as a sensitive and rapid serological test for IBV antibodies detection.In conclusion the immunogenicity of H120 was observed to bebetter than of Ma5 with non significant variation noted, and its effectiveto used as initial vaccine in the first week or when ever time ofvaccination was lost. Also conclude that time of vaccination influencedthe effectiveness of the vaccine, so early vaccination is recommended.
