الملخص

The aim of this research work is to examine the issues of Invisibility and Blindness in ToniMorrison‟s the Bluest Eye. Their interconnectedness renders the process of identity formationnearly impossible. Answering the question who am I? which Has become a recurrentquestion among no- whites in general and among African Americans in general. Brought tothe American shores to serve the economic aspirations of the British colonizers centuries ago,those Africans, men and women, were far from imagining that their people across the Atlanticwas but the beginning of a longer struggle their future generations would have to endure inorder to gain back some sense of existence .Through her novel, Morrison depicts the plight ofa young girl who because of other people‟s judgment finds herself helpless. How do beautystandards and colorism foster Blindness and invisibility is the main question behind thisresearch. What are those forces behind the main character‟s breakdown? Did Pecolavoluntarily fall into the trap of colorism and white beauty standards? Pecola is but one victimamong others, whose colour was the curse of her life.
