There is a great deal of evidence of the increasing interest of researchers in studying humor and its methods, as it has been linked to psychological, mental, and social factors, in addition to the role it plays in being a source of individual differences between individuals in the field of personal relationships. On the other hand, emotional competence is a central point in other aspects of individuals' lives, as it is a driving force for creativity and innovation, achieving mental health, adapting and forming healthy and productive relationships with others. In light of the foregoing, the researcher sought to know the correlation between the methods of a sense of humor and the emotional efficiency of teachers in the holy province of Karbala through a set of objectives represented by identifying:1. Methods of sense of humor among teachers.2. The difference in methods of sense of humor according to gender variables (males, females), and marital status (married, unmarried).3. Emotional competence of teachers.4. The difference in emotional efficiency according to gender variables (males, females), and marital status (married, unmarried).5. The correlative relationship between the methods of sense of humor and emotional competence. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built a scale to measure the methods of humor according to the model (Martin and others, 2003), which in its final form consisted of (28) items, and another scale to measure emotional efficiency according to the theory (Golman, 1995) which in its final form consisted of ( 25) paragraphs after verifying their validity and reliability and analyzing their paragraphs statistically on the research sample of (641) male and female school teachers in the holy governorate of Karbala. They were chosen by stratified random method and in a proportional manner, and after completing the procedures of the two research standards, the researcher extracted the results of his research by analyzing the teachers’ answers using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) through the electronic calculator and using a set of statistical methods, including: (the t- test for two independent samples, and the t-test for one sample, and Pearson's correlation coefficient). The research reached a number of results, the most important of which are:-Teachers are characterized by developmental humor, and they are not characterized by other methods of humor (self-enhancing, aggressive, and self-defeating humor).-There are no differences between male and female teachers on the developmental humor scale, while there are differences in humor styles (self-enhancing, aggressive, self-defeating), and in favor of males.-There are no differences between married and unmarried teachers on the measures of humor (affiliation, self-enhancing humor, and aggressiveness), while there are differences in the (self-defeating) humor styles, in favor of married people.-Teachers are emotionally competent.-There are no differences between male and female teachers on the emotional competence scale.-There are differences between married and unmarried teachers on the emotional competence scale, and in favor of the unmarried.-There is a statistically significant direct correlation between emotional competence and each of the two humor styles (belonging and self-enhancing), and a statistically significant inverse relationship between emotional competence and each of the two humor styles (aggressive and self-defeating).Based on the results of the research, the researcher developed a set of recommendations and suggestions.
