الملخص
Now a day COVID-19 represents a new type of coronavirus that spreads rapidly from person to person and becomes a major epidemic that causes a great health problem, Epidemiology and virologic studies suggest that transmission mainly occurs from symptomatic people to others. In this study, the researcher aimed to determine COVID-19 prevalence in Blue Nile and Sinnar populations from the begging of 2020 up to the end of October 2020. It is a comparative Descriptive cross-sectional study, the data were collected from pooled data, surveillance sheet, and surveillance assessment conducted by surveillance and rapid repose team, and analyzed using SPSS, Excel, and correlation by chi-square test. Out of 528 participants, the prevalence of Covid-19 in Sinnar was52.6%, and Blue Nile was 48.3%. The most frequent age group affected in Sinnar was between 25 and above, and most of the cases were from Sinnar city and Sinja. In Blue Nile, the most frequent age group was 25 to 50, and the majority were from Aldamazin. The analysis showed that there was an association between the prevalence of Covid-19 and being health care providers (work in health institutions) in Sennar state. On the other hand, no association was observed between health care providers and COVID-19 in Blue Nile state. Also, age groups between 40 to 60 years have three-time the possibility to be infected with COVID -19 compared with people in age group 1- 19, and this difference was statistically significant (P. Value=0.029). Also, people over age 60 years have three times the possibility to be infected with COVID-19 compared to the first group (P. Value=0.021). Regarding the clinical symptoms, the multivariate regression showed that only fever had a statistical association with COVID -19 infection in the two states, the Attack rate is higher in Sinnar(1.1% ) than Blue Nile state(0.27% case per 1000 people), Death among COVID-19 patients was higher compared with those who did not infect with the disease and it has a significant association(Case Fatality rate 15.3%)This study showed that the most frequent age group was 25 years and above, in Sinnar, while in Blue Nile the most frequent age group was from 25 to 50. The research revealed that the most frequent symptoms were fever, shortness of breath, cough, and sore throat, but the only fever was statistically associated with COVID -19 infection in the two states. This Study recommended doing further research to understand why COVID reveals in health care providers and high populated localities which have big cities.
