This work was an inventory of the scorpion fauna in two regions: Ouargla and El-Oued. The study was carried out in five stations (erg, reg, sabkha, palm grove and urban areas) for each region. The sampling done by three methods: pitfall traps, direct hunting and with the use of the UV lamps during 12 months of surveillance was allowed to collect a total of 1466 mature scorpions rounded up in eight species. These species were belonging to two families from which the most represented was those of Buthidae by seven species: Androctonus amoreuxi, Androctonus australis, Androctonus aeneas, Buthus tunetanus, Buthacus arenicola, Buthiscus bicalcaratusand Orthochirus innesi, while the Scorpionidae family was represented only by one species Scorpio maurus. This study revealed that the palm grove was the richest biotope in scorpions both in number of scorpion invidious and species. While the three biotopes erg, reg, sebkha accommodated a few of species. Despite its richness in scorpions, the urban environment was characterized by one species (A. australis). Androctonus australiswasthe most abundant species in the regions studied Ouargla and El-Oued with 73.31% and 78.68% respectively. The Jaccard similarity index applied to the different biotopes was shown that the number of species shared between biotopes is very low for both regions. Furthermore, the biotopes most similar according to this index were sebkha and palm grove in Ouargla region (0.42), palm grove and erg in El-Oued region (0.60). Factorial analysis of correspondence was shown that the A. Australis was a ubiquitous species in all biotopes in both regions and it was the only one which was frequented the urban areas. A. amoreuxiand B. tunetanusfrequented the biotopes of reg. A. aeneaswas a rare species, which was captured only in sabkha and reg of El-Oued region. Orthochirus innesiand Scorpio mauruswere seen frequently in the biotopes with worked and relatively damp grounds. Finally, B. bicalcaratuswas found only in the oasis of El-Oued region. Keywords: Scorpion fauna, species, biotopes, Ouargla, El-Oued.
