Vitiligo is a common disease, which is considered a major social problem to the patients. It clinically appears as white asymptomatic spots with complete absence of in the skin of affected region. It imposes a massive burden and affects the life quality of those patients, many of whom suffer embarrassment, shyness, low and social isolation, besides the existence of wrong social beliefs about it. Most surveys dealt with general indicators for the assessment of life quality among those with skin diseases, which prompted us to look for a specific mean peculiar to vitiligo to assess patient life quality. Therefore, we depended upon Vitiligo Quality of Life (VitiQol) Index, and studied quality of life and its correlation with various variables.Our survey included 73 vitiligo patients. Diagnosis was established based upon clinical signs. Each patient was assigned a special form, which included demographic information and VitiQol questionnaire, and VitiQol total was calculated via summation . The higher total expresses lower quality of life.Our survey has demonstrated that quality of life in women had been worse than that in men, also an important correlation had been found between duration of disease and quality of life, our survey showed a proportional relationship between the area of affected body surface and quality of life, and the genital has an on the reduction of patient's quality of life in our survey. Whereas we found no correlation among disease type, social status, patient’s age, educational standard, color pattern and quality of life.The average Vitiligo life quality index, referred to in our study 31.12, has reached VitiQol, which represents the average value of life quality.Regarding the aspects that were covered in our survey, we found that the level of the fear of disease spread has scored (317 degrees), which among all the answers was the highest rate. 49% of the patients suffered from this fear while 18% of them suffered from permanent discomfort with a rate of (247 degrees). 20.5% of them were consistently depressed, rating there depression (217 degrees). 27% of the patients had consistent sun protection problems as they rated this issue (198degrees).
