Introduction:People who working in health professions are more likely to have different causes of psychological stress because they are directly responsible for the health of others. Therefore Nursing is a profession where there are many sources of stress that make some nurses unhappy and insecure about their profession, Negative and reflected on their psychological and professional consensus and efficiency and self-esteem. Self-esteem acts as a barrier against the negative effect of stress and reduces anxiety. It is one of the personal factors that protect the individual from the negative effects of stress. The relationship between psychological stress associated with the work environment of nursing and self-esteem in the nursing staff is a vital and important relationship that stems from the role of work in the life of the individual and his psychological needs of self-esteem and growth. Therefore, this study was used to identify the psychological stress associated with the work environment in the obstetrics and children hospital in Lattakia and its relationship with self-esteem among the nursing staff there.Keywords: psychological stress, work environment, self-esteem, nursing staff, hospital.Aim of the study:1)Identify the level of psychological stress associated with the work environment and the level of self-esteem of nursing staff in the hospital of children and obstetrics in the city of Lattakia. 2) Identify the relationship between the level of psychological stress and the level of self-esteem of nursing staffin the children and obstetrics hospital in the city of Lattakia. Methodology: Design: Descriptive Correlational design.Sitting: This research was carried out in the departments of children and obstetrics hospital in Lattakia in the period from June 2016 to August 2016.Sample:All nurses working in the morning shift at the children and obstetrics hospital were selected as 130 nurses.Tools:The psychological stress scale questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, and the Personal translated the psychological stress test questionnaire and presented it to experts from the nursing faculty. The translation was modified according to the observations and suggestions.3.A pilot study was conducted on 13 nurses. As a result, the tool is clear and does not need any modification.4.The approval of the head of general nursing in the hospital is taken to interview the nurses working in the morning shift, then were interviewed and agreed after explaining the purpose of the study and emphasize the confidentiality of information and use for the purpose of study only.5.The questionnaires were distributed individually to each nurse, and 15 to 20 minutes were given to fill out it. made sure to stay in place to answer any query by the sample members.6.After the collection of questionnaires, the data were completed and then analyzed using the SPSS version (20). tests were used for the purpose of the study.Important Conclusion:1.The highest percentage of nursing staff in the study is subject to psychological pressure at an average level.2.About three-quarters of nursing staff had an average level of self-esteem.There is a significant positive correlation between stress faced by staff nursing and self-esteem, as it increases their self-esteem by increasing the psy
