- The Earthworms are bio-indicators of soil quality given their importance in the decomposition and recycling of organic matter, they are called soil engineers. The main of our work is to study the quantification of earthworms from cultivated soil at the experimental station of the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Blida 1. The inventory of earthworm populations collected in the study station, allowed us to find a number of 14 species, have weight values fluctuate between 0.22 g and 0.66 g with an average weight of about 0.40 g per species. The average length is of the order of 6.64 cm per species with fluctuations between 4.30 cm and 9.70 cm per species. As for the coloring observed, the color brown dominates the other colors with 57.14%.As for the coloring observed, the color brown dominates the other colors with 57.14%.Statistical analyses show a correlation between the weights and measured lengths of the individuals inventoried, this illustrates the presence of two categories of earthworms: the first with low weights and lengths and the second characterized by larger weights and lengths. These morphological parameters that characterize the determined categories can help in the identification of earthworm species by adding the parameter of the color of the specimens identified.
