- This research attempts to discuss the archaeology of Neolithic period in the Sabaloka east area (Wadi Ab Jadad) at the 6th cataract in the Sudan; in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the era of the Sudan late prehistoric archaeology. This period is regarded as one of the main important phases of the late prehistoric societies development in the middle Nile region, because it marks end of prehistory and the rise of early Kushite civilizations.Although the archaeological in research in Sudan has largely expanded, Sabaloka east area still not covered by archaeological survey and excavation, despite its location in the middle of the main late prehistoric regions in the Sudan. This research tries to shed a light on the area important from an archaeological survey and test excavation about Neolithic archaeology in both phases “Early Khartoum and Shaheinab” and to identify the main characteristics of each phase in the area.Chapter one, here the research dealt with the concept of the Neolithic Age in Sudan, characteristics and remain of paleo-environment in the late prehistoric times, with special focusing on characteristics of Neolithic horizons. Chapter two focused on the area of Sabaloka east in terms of geological and topographical aspects, with a discussion of the previous studies results.Chapter three explained the methodology of fieldwork in Sabaloka East area through archaeological surveys and test excavation, with a description of the discovered archaeological sites and samples collected from the surface. Research based on historical and descriptive methods with archaeological fieldwork tools for measuring and describing of archaeological sites.Chapter four dealt with the classification and discription study of archaeological finds that have been collected by survey and test excavations.Chapter fifth dealt embraces the comparative study of the archaeological finds collected encountered at sites discovered via survey and test excavations, which revealed their similarities with Early Khartoum and Shaheinanb Cultures. The results of this research add many issues to the Sudan prehistoric archaeology, where eight new archaeological sites been discovered, they presented characteristics of Early Khartoum Shaheinab cultures. The site of SP07 revealed stratified material of both cultures. The archaeological classification of the lithic, pottery sherds and animals and fish bones confirmed that the Sabaloka east area was inhabited by late prehistoric groups similar to Early Khartoum and Shaheinab types in central Sudan from the emergences of wavy line pottery, microlithics, gouge and polished axes. As well as characterized by the phenomenon of cultural continuity of Early Khartoum and Shehinab in most of the archaeological sites discovered there. In addition, there are indications of late Neolithic culture in some sites, especially the site of SP07 (Ritaij site). This confirms that the area of Sabaloka east was a home land for late prehistoric groups settlement, they occupied the area for long times and they had a relationship with other groups in the central Sudan regions.
