Effect of Medium Viscosity on Some Quantum Systems

الملخص

Particles that are moving within a bulk matter are affected by thesurrounding atoms. This effect can be recognized by treatingmatter as a viscous medium. The expression of energy loss byparticle in viscous medium was derived by relating it to the orbitalangular momentum. This energy expression is used to find a newquantum law that accounts for the effect of viscosity. It was foundthat this equation is reduced to ordinary Schrödinger equation inthe absence of friction. The solution of this equation shows thatboth energy and viscosity coefficient are quantized and are relatedto the orbital quantum number. The total energy reduces to that ofordinary one in the absence of viscosity. The Renod's numberagrees with the known one. In this work the kinetic and potentialenergy, beside the viscous energy for harmonic oscillator and theirrelation to each other was found. The expression of viscous energywas simplified by relating the classical and quantum expressionsaccording to correspondence principle. This viscous energyexpression was added to the classical Hamiltonian energy to findthe total medium energy. This total energy beside the waveequation of wave packet was used to find the modified Schrödingerequation.
