الملخص
This study aims at investigating the problems faced by Universitystudents in paragraph writing. The researcher has adopted descriptiveanalytical method. Two instruments have been used for collecting datarelevant to the study, namely questionnaire to teachers of English at someSudanese Universities and diagnostic test to third year students of Englishat Al-Neelain University – College of Arts. The study sample ofquestionnaire comprises (30) teachers whereas the sample of diagnostictest consists of (30) students. The researcher applied SPSS program toanalyze and verify the hypotheses. The results have shown that a majorchallenges faced by EFL students is to produce good- quality paragraphwriting. Moreover, students are not able to write well -connectedparagraph due to lack of grammatical construction. The pedagogic valueof paragraph writing has been neglected. The study has recommendedthat teachers should help students communicate their thoughts and ideasto others while writing paragraph. Furthermore, the use of reading- intowriting method should be particularly beneficial to students' paragraphwritingabilities. Some suggestions are also proposed for further studies.
