ترجمة الملخص

The medical wastes produced by the medical institutions are considered to be athreat to the human beings and the environment. In spite of the human medical progress, it still has its negative effects on the environment and people's health as a result of the accumulation of the medical wastes and the lack of their management.The aims of the study are to demonstrate and evaluate the process of the medical wastes management which is adopted by Al-Sweida Governorate. Then, to clarify the methods of the medical wastes disposal and to explain their effects on polluting the environment in the governorate.Bacterial, chemical and physical analysis have being conducted on samples from the soil of Knaker Landfill (dump) in Al-Sweida City. Other samples were taken and analyzed from the drinking and waste water from Al-Usulha Valley which is located to the west of Sweida City. The results of the bacterial analysis revealed a bacterial contamination in the samples taken from the waste water such as Escherichiaعcoli, Enterobacteriaceaebacteria and Staphylococcus aureus. Whereas the outcomes of the chemical and physical analysis of the entire samples displayed that they are still within the normal limits which are stated by the Syrian and International standards specifications.The research project concluded that there is a deficiency in the management of the medical wastes within the hospitals, health centers and specialized clinics of the governorate. The study found out that the applied methods of waste discharge are still traditional. One example is burning the dangerous solid medical wastesin Kanaker dump together with the municipal wastes. Another example is throwing the wastewater produced by the hospitals in the public water distribution network without providing a proper treatment for it.
