() fever is a disease with world distribution caused by Coxiella burnetii, bacterium with obligate multiplication, which is essentially transmitted of bacteria in the environment. The direct and indirect losses in relation to this pathology are considerable because it is considered mainly in rural region. In Algeria, the epidemiological situation is characterized by a blatant lack of information. The main aim of our work is the determination of and excretory status of small ’flocks regarding Q fever and of circulating strains. An investigation in relation to abortions was conducted in 105 farms and 35 herds have been sampled. A total of 227 sera and 267 vaginal swabs were collected. Two diagnostic techniques have been used, indirect ELISA for the detection of specific antibodies to C.burnetiiin sera and quantitative PCR (PCRq) for the detection of bacterial DNA in swabs by amplification of the IS1111 gene. MLVA technique was selected for the molecular typing with the use of 17 VNTR. The isolation of bacteria was carried with SFT cells. The field survey showed a lack of hygiene measures in relation to abortions. By , the results showed 32 positive cases (14.1%) in 17 herds (58.6%), which prove the contact between the bacteria and test animals. For the , from the total number of samples, we obtained 57 positive cases (rate of 21.3%) in 21 herds (60%), confirming the bacterial vaginal excretion after abortions or after allowed the characterization of 11 strains of origin belonging to 3 different clusters. A biodiversity of strains was found with the observation of 11 new genetic profiles. In addition, some genetic observed with strains of neighboring countries (TUNISIA and MOROCCO) and foreign (FRANCE and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Registered rates raise a potential problem of Q fever existence flocks which may pose a risk to public health. Therefore, expanding the study disease to other regions of the country and further research in diagnostics with recent and reliable tools seems an absolute necessity
