الملخص

In the last decades, e-learning became an important method for education, learning, teaching and training but still there is a big debate to be fixed about its outcome and the opportunities of its validity to replace and assist the traditional learning This study tried to help fixing this issue. The study was a descriptive and comparative study of e-learning and traditional one. Both were used in teaching five different subjects. The Kuder -Richardson Formulas (KR-20) of the exams ranged from 0.46 to 0.92 and the standard errors of measurements (SEM) of the subjects ranged from 3.00 to 3.20. Concerning the whole subject exam results, the means difficulty indices ranged from 0.597to 0.678 and the mean discrimination indices from 0.136 to 0.432. While for the type of learning; the mean difficulty indices ranged from 0.5746 to 0.7117 and the means discrimination index from 0.0576 to 0.4324. This means that all of the examinations were reliable, of similar difficulty, and the same quality. The students’ scores were different in the different subjects and different types e.g. in the subjects 4 the scores were significantly different (p-value 0.01), in favour of the traditional learning. While in the others four subjects were significantly similar (p-value 0.000), all of the scores were within the D-degree range in the traditional learning as well as in the e-learning. There is a significant correlation between the failure of the students in traditional learning and the possibilities of their failure in the e-learning and in the subject final result (p value0.015). Despite this, the strongest correlation is between e-learning scores and the final subject score which was 0.928. E-learning has a similar educational outcome to traditional learning. It better to encourage E-learning in Sudan as it solves many problems e.g. educational costs, staff shortage, and transportations
