Evaluating the Use of the IELTS Test to Develop the Speaking Skill in the Oral Production Module: Case of Third Year Students at Tlemcen University

الملخص

The present research attempts to investigate the use of the IELTS test inthe oral production module at the university of Tlemcen , department ofEnglish ,case of third year EFL students. This study seeks to investigatewhether implementing the IELTS test speaking part in the oral productionmodule helped or hindered students‟ communicative development. To tacklesuch issue, two research instruments were employed, first Students‟questionnaire and teacher interview. The researcher has collected bothqualitative and quantitative data that helped to answer the research questionsand hypotheses. .The researcher has discovered that implementing the IELTStest indeed , improved the communicative aspect of the target language as therewas a difference between tests results obtained from first time introducing thetest and after sitting for it several times .on the other hand ,this authenticlanguage test has special classroom settings that need to be available for theadaptation of such teaching to take place.
