- An integrated oil geological studies, conducted on pertological, sedimentological and reserving bases, to the Paleogene and Neogenerock formations, which Penetrated by many of the wells drilled in AL-Mahash oil field in Euphrates depression west of Deir AL-Zour city in the eastern part of Syria ,By studying rocky cores Samples of the wells drilled in the field, and Reinterpret and placement some of available Shallow and borehole geophysical Measurements, to provide a Petrological detailed description for the sediment of the produced formations (Blindfolded and reservoir and generated) of oil, then deposition environments conclusion, and Concludes the early and the subsequent digenetic events of the deposition, and relate it to the generation and reservoir properties of the rock .Which provides an important geological information base about rock formations belonging to Paleogen and Neogene in AL-Mahash field .The formations Kermav, Jaddale, Chilou (belonging to Paleogen), Euphrates, Dibbane, jeribe, transition zone and lower fars formations (belonging to Neogene) were studied, while the formations upper fars and Bakhtiari (belonging to Neogene) were Removed by erosion and absent entirely in AL-Mahash field .This study mainly relied on Fifty-two cores rocks samples, taken from the well AL-Mahash-7, and 251 microscopic rocky sections returning to the wells AL-Mahash7, 32, 24.ThePetrological and sedimentological study documented by hundreds of microscopic images captured by high-resolution digital camera, in addition to the droping and matching some of the Petrological microstructure models to reservoir characteristics from the borehole petrophysical measurements, and this is a newly innovative approach. The study extended to the depths of the wells ranges from a few hundred meters until about 1600m under the surface of the earth, it was about a six main wells for Petrological and sedimentological and reservoir study, it is AL-Mahash wells number 7, 10, 14, 17, 24, 32, in addition to AL-Mahash wells number 4, 18, as a complementing wells in the reservoir characteristics studying. The Petrological study showed control of the reservoir carbonate rock (limestone, Argillaceous limestone, dolomited limestone, and dolomite) in Euphrates, Jeribe ,Transition zone formations and many parts of Dibbane formation, punctuated occasionally covering rocks of evaporites (Gypsum, Anhydrite and Halite), with many levels of marl and clay , in addition to having a little fossil existence or distorted by digenesis, and mainly consists of the remains of foraminifera and Lamellibranchiain carbonate strata. On the contrary, evaporative facies has dominated the Debbane formation, punctuated occasionally interfaces breaks with a few thickness of the carbonate rocks which have good reservoir properties, in addition to the reservoir properties gained in cracked evaporates, to give this formation acceptable stockpile of oil in AL-Mahash field, and it is the only case documented of Debbane formation in Syria where these formation is oil producer, even in small quantities, while the Lower Fars formation composed of rotations of evaporite rocks (Gypsum and Anhydrite) with sometimes clay and halite, andsome levels of shale and dolomite. While the formations Kermav, Jaddale, and Chilou was composed of carbonate rocks (limestone, Argillaceous limestone and sometimes dolomited limestone) which have structural, petrological and traditionally reservoir properties that did not qualify for the production, storing and catching oil and hydrocarbons in AL-Mahash field. the study also identified the formations thicknesses in Paleogene and Neogene in the studied wells, and also identified the average thicknesses of these formations in whole AL-Mahash field. XThe Sedimentary environments studying showed that the dolomitic and dolomited limestone facies deposited in the Intertidal and Supratidal marine sedimentary environments, while the limestone and Argillaceouslimest on facies deposited between Intertidal to subtidal environments, while clay, calcareous clay and the marly facies belong to deepersedimentary environments vary from subtidal to more deep environments, while evaporative facies, Gypsum, Anhdrite and saline facies belong to shallow Supratidal to swampy and lagoons environments, and also shoreline lakes, ponds, and continental playa environments. It also identified the deposition according to the patterns of sedimentary sequences, as the transition from deep marine to shallow marine and continental sedimentary environments was the general pattern in the sedimentation basin, but this change was oscillator from time to time, and gave confusion in the general pattern of sedimentary sequences. But in general, the sedimentary environment has changed from an deep marine environment with the beginning of the tyranny of Paleogene Sea, which extended in Kermav, Jaddala and Chilou formations, to shallow sea environment, lagoons, lacustrine andsemi-continental environment in the top of Neogene, Represented by Lower Fars evaporative formation, result of the large reflowing Sea in the upper Miocene, while the shallow and intermediate deep sedimentary facies represented to several depositional environments oscillator depth, all of this conditions dominatedon Euphrates, Dibbane, Jeribe and Transition Zone formations that belonging to the middle and lower Miocene .The study indicated to activity in the diagenetic operations specially dissolution and dolomitization in Jeribe and Transition Zone formations, which gave them a good increasing in the effective porosity and permeability, and a significant improvement in reservoir properties and saturation of oil and gas, but on a lesser extent in Euphrates and Lower Fars formations, with acceptable proportion in Dibbane formation due to the cracking. The study explained existence of dome in the geological structure of the composition that consisting of a mixed structural oil trap, Including bothfold and faults, whereas the process of separation in the field to blocks by faults and cracks awarded it the major closures and the complexity structural composition. The study showed that the lateral changes in the reservoir characteristic sevolve towards equatorial field axis, and it mainly peaked along the axis toward AL-Mahash-7, 18 wells, compared to a decrease in quality of the reservoir characteristics in a well AL-Mahash-4 which located between the ex-wells, that change happens in disorderly sites and not spatially linked, but the lateral changes in the reservoir characteristics are bitmapped and local occurred depending on late Diagenesis, dissolution and subsequent operations of the rocks forming. The reservoir properties improved in the eastern part of the field surrounding of the well AL-Mahash-24, due to the good closure in addition to the good reservoir properties, but the reservoir properties are any way in the best quality along the equatorial axis of AL-Mahashoval field. The correlation process between the studied wells showed no significant changes in the facies and the thickness along the horizontal direction, while the Facies changes were mainly exclusive to the dolomitization and the reservoir properties that varied local and suddenly from one location to another in the field, that seems linked to the dissolution and the late topical dolomitization rather than in the deposition and the early operations.
