The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of dietary yeast(Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on broiler performance and apparent retention of drymater, crude protein, either extract, ash and crude fiber.300 day–old Ross 308 unsexed chicks were weighed and randomlyassigned to four dietary treatments. The diets were formulated to be isocaloricand isonitrogenous. The starter and finisher diets were formulated according tothe recommendation of the NRC (1994). The diets ware supplemented withincreasing level of dried yeast: 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 or1.5 %.The experimental design used was complete randomized (75/ chicks pertreatment), with three replication 25 birds / Replicate. The broiler chickens werefed starter diets from 0 to 21 days and finisher diets from 22 to 42 days.Final live weight, Feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratiowere improved by adding dried yeast, but the differences were not significant.The dressing percentages, organs weight (abdominal fat, liver, gizzard andheart) did not differ significantly among the various treatment groups.The apparent nutrients retention in starter period, were not significantlyaffected by yeast addition, except crude protein and ash. The bird’s fed on dietcontend 1.5% yeast recorded best retention of protein, and 0.5% yeast fedbirds’ actualized better retention of ash.On the finishing period the apparent retention of dry matter; crude fiberand ash were improved by adding yeast and the difference was significantbetween all treatments, but the apparent retention of crude protein and ether
