- Due to the rich diversity of Hydrophytes and Hygrophytes in Syria and the presence of few studies about it, and the increased eutrophication of river water, which causes water pollution and Hydrophytes plants and Hygrophytes that spread in Al-Husayn River and its bed in Tartous governorate were identified as a part of the Biodiversity Definition Programs in Syria. The effect of aquatic extracts of the eight studied plant species on three green microalgae species isolated from the river from the locations: (1) Al-Khawabi River, (2) Hossen Sea. (3)West of the motorway 500m, were studied. Scanning process of plants has showed 17 species of, hydrophytes and hygrophytes belong to 12 families (Urticaceae, Polygonaceae, Brassicaceae, Apiaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Lythraceae, Lamiaceae, Typhaceae, Poaceae, Tamaricaceae, Platanaceaeand Salicaceae). Species were: Urtica dioica L, Urtica urens L., Rumex crispus, Rumex sp., Polygonum lapathifolium, Nasturtium officinale, Apium nodiflorum, Veronica serpyllifolia, Lythrum hyssopifolia L., Mentha longifolia, Lycopus europaeus, Vitex angus-castus, Typha latipholia, Phragmites australis, Tamarix tetragyna, Salix alba L. and Platanus oriental is L., in addition to many microorganisms like Diatoms, Bacteria, Cyanobacteria and Green algae (especially Chara). Results of some studied Physical, Chemical and Biological properties showed that first and second sites had similar properties compared to the third site. Aquatic extract of the eight plants was prepared by soaking method (Polygonum lapathifolium, Lythrum hyssopifolia L, Vitexangus-castus, Typha latipholia, Phragmites australis, Tamarix tetragyna).Total phenol concentration of each extract was determined with Fulin Ciocalteu method. The effect of different concentrations of the aquatic extracts on cell counting differentiation was studied for three species, Scenedesmus bijuga, Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus obliquus, that were isolated from al-Hossen river and cultured in liquid growth medium in the laboratory. Extraction yield of plants varied between 13% and 28%. Total phenolic content varied between 6.9 mg/g to 19.3 mg/g and reached 59 mg/g in Tamarix tetragyna. Some of the studied plants characterized with a high phenolic content such as: Tamarix tetragyna, Mentha longifolia, Lycopus europaeu and Phragmites australis. some had good content such as Polygonum lapathifolium, Typha latipholia, Vitex angus-castus, and Lythrum hyssopifolia, while eachof Nasturtium officinale and Rumex crispus characterized with a little phenol content .Results have shown an obvious effect of the studied extracts of the species Lycopus europaeus, Lythrum hyssopifolia, Tamarix tetragyna, Mentha longifolia ,where IC100(inhibitory concentration) was 0.3 g/l after 144h for both Lycopus europaeus and Lythrum hyssopifoliain Chlorella vulgaris, and 0.3g/l after 96h for Tamarix tetragynain Scenedesmus obliquus, while IC100 for Mentha longifolia was 0.2 g/l after 96h incenedesmus bijuga, also Polygonum lapathifolium, Mentha longifolia, Tamarix tetragyna extract’s had a clear effect in Chlorella vulgaris, where IC100 was 0.3 g/l after 144h for Polygonum lapathifolium and Mentha longifolia, and 0.1 g/l after 144h for Tamarix
