الملخص

The relationship between the content of trace elements in drugs used in Sudanese folk medicine and claimed antihypertensive properties has been investigated.Seven plant samples namely: Allium Latium, Croton Americus,Guiera senegalensis, Hibiscus sabdariffcz, Hyphaene thebaica,Khaya sengalensis and Nuclear Iatifolia have been collected indifferent geographic localities of Sudan and recommended by herbalist practitioners known as Al-Teman brothers at the old city of Omdurman. A comprehensive literature review has been done o1\ the said plants and hypotensive plants; on hypotensive drugs ‘and their chemotherapy and on trace elements, their nature and safety levels in human diet.Parallel to that a detailed phytochemical and thin_ layer chromatographic screening has been completed and the presence of alkaloids, Coumadin, essential oils, ,saponins, tannins and triterpenes was confirmed. \\The trace elements cobalt, copper, iron, manganese and\‘/inch ave been detected and by atomic €lbS()F]\ti()technique and the literature survey made confirmed their practitioners bearing in mind the hazardous content and unpredictable effects of the said secondary metabolites.
