الملخص
A field experiment was conducted during the summer season of 2007, at the Demonstration Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum (latitude 150-40N and longititude 320-32E) to compare the effect of irrigation at intervals of seven and ten days on growth and yield of pure stand of fodder sorghum, clitoria and the mixture of the two crops. The results of the experiment showed that forage fresh and dry weights produced under seven days irrigation were higher compared to those produced under irrigation every ten days. Average growth rate/day was higher under the shorter irrigation interval than under irrigation every ten days. Total soil moisture depletion and the average daily loss of water by evapotranspiration under frequent irrigation was higher than that recorded for irrigation every ten days. Water use efficiency (kg ha-1m3) were low for all treatments. However, W.U.E was relatively higher for treatments irrigated every seven days, compared to those irrigated every ten days.
