This research sheds light on the task of the reading process for acquiring texts, especially poetic texts. It also focuses on the theory of acquisition and the concepts brought by (Hans Robert Jauss) and (Wolfgang Iser) within the concepts that give the main role to the reader through the reading process as the receiver of the texts is the interpreter of what different meanings they contain as a final objective. On the other hand, excerpts of Nizar Qabbani's poems were chosen for their relevance that can pave the way for the recipient to be able to interpret and have multiple readings. The nature of the research required dividing it into an introduction and two chapters; each chapter is also divided into two sections: In the introduction, we tried to enter the world of reading in order to explain its concept, and to show the role of contemporary reading, as well as mentioning various levels of reading and its divisions, and also to enter the world of acquisition and what is related to its theory. Finally we touched upon the structural sources of Nizar Qabbani's intellect, mentioning the most important different critical opinions about it.As for the first chapter, we devoted it to talking about (Hans Robert Jauss) and his two concepts (The Horizon of Expectation) and (the Aesthetic Distance). We also analyzed the two poems of Nizar Qabbani, namely (The Cup Reader) and (To a Naïve One) according to these two concepts. Furthermore, we talked about (Wolfgang Iser) and the concept of (The gaps) that he invented. Then we analyzed Nizar Qabbani’s poem (The Rooster) according to this concept. As for the second chapter, we dealt with the reader’s skill and the role he plays in producing texts, as well as mentioning two types of readers. The first type is (the implicit reader) discovered by Iser, and then we analyzed Nizar Qabbani’s poem (A Woman Walking Inside Me) according to this concept. The second type of readers is (the actual reader). In this chapter, we also mentioned a set of text strategies used by Nizar Qabbani. Finally we referred to the most important results that the research reached.
