- Our contribution to the study of the growth increments of cork oak (Quercus suber L.) was characterizedby three sites: Tatidoum, Ain megfel, and El gourrah within the cork oak forest of El Tarf province, through the sampling of 10 specimens per site. A total of 90 samples were considered, and the measuredvariables were board thickness and annual ring thickness. The average cork thickness is 40.62 mm, of which 96% belongs to the commercial class above27 mm, suitable for cork stoppers. The average growth increment obtained from our 3 sites is approximately 2.26 mm, leading us toconclude that this cork is of acceptable quality and is classified as regular. The annual ring thickness of the cork, measured by image analysis, showed that the growthcurves of the 30 trees, as well as the master curves, follow the theoretical curve.Statistical analysis results revealed highly significant variations in cork thickness and ringthickness between the three considered sites and among the trees of these same sites. The existence of good synchronism between the trees of the studied sites and a homogeneousand moderate reaction with the surrounding climate. 84The first and second axes of the principal component analysis respectively interpret the variation in cork thickness and density as a function of altitude and the variation in cork growth as a function of its age.
