الملخص
Self-compacting concrete depends on the amount of mortar in concrete mix for giving enough flow to fill the voids without using mechanical vibration. Increasing the amount of mortar makes drying and plastic shrinkage increase with some changes in hardened and thermal properties of concrete. The main goal of this study is the use of modified admixture which works for decreasing the drying and plastic shrinkage and increasing concrete strength. Also, this study evaluates the thermal and hardened properties of concrete and their effect on the properties of rigid pavement. This research aims to investigate the properties of SCC produced by locally available materials and to study the effect of the addition of fibers, Sika Latex and the reduction of (w/p). Four mixes are used: reference mix (RM) is a self-compacting concrete (SCC) without modified admixture, in the second mix the (W/P) is reduced from (0.35) to (0.27), the third mix 5% of sika latex is added and in the fourth mix 1% of steel fibers is added. To determine self-compatibility features for those mixes, different test methods are adopted in this research such as slump-flow, T50 slump-flow, L-box, and sieve segregation resistance. The studied hardened properties are compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, modulus of rupture and static modulus of elasticity. The studied thermal properties are coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), thermal conductivity (K) and specific heat (C). The results show that the slump-flow range is from (555 to 630) mm, T50 slump flow range is from (3.46 to 6.23) Sec., the blocking ratio Abstract II(H2/H1) of L-box range is from (0.65 to 0.89) and the sieve segregation resistance range is from (1to 4) %. Self-compacting concrete with steel fibers (SCC-SF) shows the highest coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) at (7, 28) days with increasing range from (3 to 16) % compared with the other mixes. Also, SCC-SF showed the highest thermal conductivity (K) at (7, 28, 56) days, this increase was from (3 to 22) % when it was compared with the other mixes. SCC-SF showed the highest modulus of rupture (MR) at (7, 28, 56) days, this increase was from (28 to 64) % when it was compared with the other mixes. Three statistical models were developed to combine (MR) and (CTE) with W/P, additive percentage and age. The decrease in slab thickness of rigid pavement was (21, 5 and 40)% for SCC-WR, SCC-SL and SCC-SF respectively when they were compared with the reference mix. The increase in joints spacing was (25, 9.4, 63.4) % for SCC-WR, SCC-SL and SCC-SF respectively when they were compared with the reference mix. Finally the results showed that the SCC-SF is more adopted for rigid pavement construction
