- The auto-biography is a genre of modern prose literature, and a form of literary art in which the author presents the details of his personal life with his pen, and conveys his experience in life with a commitment to honesty, integrity and trustworthiness in narrating events, and avoiding bias and arrogance. The art of autobiography has developed, according to the rapid changes in contemporary societies and the whole world this art that is erased from the memory of the writer, and presents himself to the reader as a witness or actor in events that have passed. This thesis dealt with five autobiographies of five Iraqi writer, which were published between (2000-2020),namely: (Salah Niazi, Fazel Al-Azzawi, Abdullah Ibrahim, Ali Al-Shawk, and Lutfia Al-Dulaimi) and included their personal lives sincechildhood, and dealt with the problems of the homeland, and these biographies differed from each other in the topics addressed, although they participated in issues related to the modern history of Iraq, then the study analyzed what was contained in it, after defining the nature of the autobiography and presenting glimpses of the history of its development in the world, the Arab world, and Iraq. The thesis was divided into an introduction, followed by an introductory introduction and three chapters, thenthe conclusion in which the most prominent results of this research were mentioned. In the introduction, after defining the nature of the autobiography and presenting glimpses of the history of its development in the (world, the Arab world, and Iraq). In the first chapter, I dealt with (the elements of narrative construction in the selected texts), and it was divided into four section, which are (event, character, time, place). The first section, (event) branched into two requirements, which are: (centrality of events, and their marginality). The second section, is: (characters) was mentioned in three requirements with its dimensions (psychological, cultural, and social). (Time) is the third section, divided into three requirements in terms of the techniques of (flashback, anticipation, andtemporal description). Finally, the fourth section is (place), which included two requirements, which are: (description of place, and its effects) on the narrative, as well as dealing with (the autobiographical discourse)in the second chapter, and it was divided into three sections which are: (formation of identity, narrative structure, and biographical facts). And Each section consists of two requirements, the first section is related to the formation of identity in terms of (threshold discourse, and personal translation), the second section is (the narrative structure) related to (diaries, memoirs, and memories), and the third and last section is (biographical facts) and touchedon (letters, quotations and intertextuality). Among the things that This thesis dealt with (the motives for autobiographical writing) in the third chapter, and it branched into three sections: the first section in terms of (documentation and personal experience), including (confession, transcending taboos, and the movement of consciences), the second section (statement of position on the events) (cultural, social, and political), and then the third section(mythof the self relative to the other). Among the most prominent findings of this study are: Most of the events mentioned in these biographies are central because of the writers' attention to topics of interest to society. With the dominance of the main characters in the biographies compared to the secondary characters. And their distance from naturalizing their biographies with autobiographies, all the writers of these biographies left the homeland and lived in exile and suffered from its pain, their reliance on memories more than memoirs, diaries and letters, and the use of intertextuality was less compared to quotation, and the lack of frankness and clarity sufficient for writers in dealing with confession and overcoming the taboo, they did not declare their remorse and did not ask for forgiveness, the use of various pronouns in biographies and moving them from case to case, and the good use of the first person, the presence of the legend in narrative texts is a strong motivation for writing autobiography. Finally, write a list of sources and references with an abstract of the research in Arabic and Kurdish and English
