This study has addressed the Israeli housing and settlement policy in East Jerusalemindicating the main policies and practices of the Israeli occupation authorities which strivefor controlling, judaizing and isolating Jerusalem city since it has been occupied, and it hasalso analyzed the phases of these activities and practices. Moreover, the study hasconcentrated on the time period from 1967 to 2010, and addressed, by analysis andexplanation, the goals and impacts of the Israeli population and settlement policy on thejudaization and isolation of Jerusalem which constitutes a threat to its present and future;especially as it is considered the core of the Palestinian, Arab and regional issue.The most significant justifications and objectives of the study are represented in thechanges and practices performed by the Israeli authorities since (1967 until 2010) inJerusalem city. Such practices included intensifying the settlement activities, expanding thecolonies, as well as establishing the apartheid wall which has resulted in accelerating thejudaization procedures by using racist practices such as land confiscation, in addition to theissues of planning, construction and taxes aiming at evacuating the city, increasing thesuffering of Palestinians in Jerusalem, and increasing Israeli obstinacy. Such changes arealso represented in the different views of Israeli successive governments regarding theunity of Jerusalem and considering it as the capital city of Israel which are considered veryserious goals influencing the situation and future of the Palestinian issue.The study has a set of tangible results concerning Jerusalem city. One of these results isrepresented in the fact that the Israeli occupation authorities have used several racistpolicies and practices for controlling the lands of East Jerusalem and establishingsettlements. The study has also concluded that the Israeli occupation is highly concernedwith Jerusalem settlements since it has been occupied in 1967 under planned andprogrammed projects placed by the Israeli successive governments whether they wereLikud or Labor governments.This study has also emphasized the political benefits which the Israeli authorities will gainfrom increasing settlements in Jerusalem, changing its demographic characteristic,depopulating its residents and withdrawing their identities, preventing constructions. It hasalso stressed the difficulty of achieving construction permits through which the Israeliauthorities aim at resolving their issue, under any settlement projects, final politicalsolutions or peace initiatives in the future, in favor of Israel, and for the purpose ofcontinuation in Jerusalem Judaization at all levels while ignoring the internationaldecisions. The study analysis has also concluded that Israel has exploited the peaceagreements signed with the Palestinians and Arabs for increasing its settlement process inJerusalem. It has also found that there has been a clear negligence of confronting thesettlement approach in all popular and official Palestinian methods, and it has also revealedthe weak support of Palestinian authority organizations or Arab and Islamic countries forJerusalem citizens’ steadfastness in preserving their land.
