- The sandflies have an important epidemiological role as a vector of several pathogens affecting animals in general and humans in particular. The data acquired in this work allow us to have an idea on the specific diversity characterizing the phlebotomine population in the North-Eastern Algeria of several wilayates Guelma, Annaba and oulad djelal. The captures of adult sandflies are carried out using two types of traps paper adhesive and UV light trap at the level of urban and rural areas. The systematic study has allowed the identification of 9 species of sandflies belonging to two genera Phlebotomus and Sergentomyia. The genus phlebotomus is slightly more abundant than Sergentomyia, representing 91.31 % of the total abundance, or 115 individuals. The first genus is represented by 6 species P.papatasi(3.47%), P. sergenti(54.78%) P.perniciosus(9.56%),P.alexandri (5.21%) P.Longicuspis(10.43%), P.ariasi(7.82%) ,and second genus is represented by 3 species , S.dreyfussi(3.47%), S.minuta parroti and S.antennata(2.60%)The diversity of sandflies is characterized by the predominance of 2 species, P. sergenti and P.Longicuspis followed by P.ariasi, P.alexandri, P.papatasi, S.dreyfussi, S.minuta and finally S.antennata. This work constitutes a contribution to the characterization of the phlebotomine breeding grounds in order to provide information on the ecology and organization of phlebotomine populations in the North-Eastern of Algeria and their role in the transmission of leishmaniasis.
