Black cotton soil (BCS) a soilfrom Gedarif was studied and characterized physically, chemically andmineralogically. Out of which fired clay bricks and pozzolana wereproduced. For production of bricks Gedarif soil was treated to overcomeproblems of drying and firing by adding 20% ground grogsPozzolana of reasonable quality was also produced satisfying requirementsof known Standards (Indian and American) by finding the optimumcalcining temperature which is 700 ºC.
