Detection of Aspergillus spp. In the Nasal Cavity of Horses in Khartoum and Port Sudan Area

الملخص

This study aimed to detect the presence of Aspergillus species in thenasal cavity of horses. Fifty nasal swab samples were obtained fromŚŽƌƐĞƐ ŝŶ <ŚĂƌƚŽƵŵ ;ϰϬ ƐĂŵƉůĞƐͿ ĂŶĚ WŽƌƚ ^ƵĚĂŶ ;ϭϬ ƐĂŵƉůĞƐͿ͘In Khartoum State samples were collected from police college horsestables (Soba), police riding horse stables and Faculty of VeterinaryMedicine, University of Khartoum, while the samples from PortPlease purchase PDFcamp Printer on http://www.verypdf.com/ to remove this watermark.ixSudan city were collected from private horse stables.Thirty-six of the samples ;ϳϮй) gave positive growth of some speciesof the genus Aspergillus ǁŚŝůĞ ƚŚĞ ŽƚŚĞƌ ĨŽƵƌƚĞĞŶ ƐĂŵƉůĞƐ ;ϮϴйͿdidnot show growth of any of the genus Aspergillus species.Three species of the genus Aspergillus were isolated and identifiedusing a slide culture technique. These species were:Aspergillus niger ;Ϯϯ ŝƐŽůĂƚĞ- ϲϯ͘ϵйͿ͕ Aspergillus fumigatus ;ϭϮisolates- ϯϯ͘ϯйͿ and Aspergillus flavus (one isolates- Ϯ͘ϴйͿ͘dŚĞ ƉĞƌĐĞŶƚĂŐĞ ŽĨ ƉŽƐŝƟǀĞ ƐĂŵƉůĞƐ ŝŶ WŽƌƚ ^ƵĚĂŶ ϭϬϬй ƉŽƐŝƟǀĞhowever, ŝŶ <ŚĂƌƚŽƵŵ ǁĂƐ ϲϱйpositive due to the nature of PortSudan, which is characterized by high humidity which provides asuitable environment for the growth of fungi
