The Risk Factors among Hypertensive Patients at Al kalakla Health Centers, Khartoum State, Sudan 2013

Hypertension is a major public health problem and important risk factor of many diseases in developing countries including Sudan Objective: To examine the relationship between risk factors and blood pressure among hypertensive patient aged 40 years and above in kalakla (Algoba & Algalah) health centers from (May- September 2013) Methods: primary health care based cross sectional study 116 total of participants, data was collected using questionnaire which included socio demographic data lifestyle and co morbidity. Collected data was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS).Result: the most common modifiable risk factors for hypertension were physical inactivity, the physical activity and dietary habits of hypertensive patients were not effective and satisfactory. High percent (93.1%) of participants were found to lead sedentary and physically inactive the study found no significant relationship between physical activity or dietary and hypertension Obesity (42%) overweight. Although this study found a significant relationship between BMI and socio-demographic factors: (education, marital status, occupation and hereditary. non-Modifiable risk factors: mean age was 58years (50%). More than half 66(56.9%) of total participants were female. (41.4%) of participants were housewives by occupation. 47.4% hypertension in family history The Mean BP 132.8|81.5mmHg .62 of participants their DBP blew 90mmHg &51thier SBP blew140mmHg. Conclusion: the most of the identified hypertension risk factors are preventable.
