الملخص

The waste produced in the course of health care activities carries higher potential for infection and I injury than any type of waste, wherever it is generated safe and reliable methods for it is hand ling are there for essential .in adequate and in appropriate handling of health care waste may have serious public health consequences and significant impact on the environment. This study was conducted to evaluate of medical waste management system in hospitals and health centers in Kassala locality Kassala state (5 hospitals and 29 health centers) through the classification, collection, components and final disposal. The methodology was descriptive cross sectional study based on survey of hospitals and health centers through the use of a questionnaire interviews with medical staff, authorities from ministry of health, personal observations, and waited the health care waste. The obtained results showed that the surveyed hospitals generated a total of (29452) kg/day and health centers generated (263). The study revealed that the medical treatment is carried out for some hospitals and health centers 9.3% and 90.7% do not have medical treatment. The study revealed that training of cadres is available only 22.2% in hospitals and health centers. Personal protective equipment is available at 94.4% and its use is 88% and the percentage of cadres fed against diseases related to medicalize is 16.7. The study showed that only 3.7% had a plan to manage medical waste .
