The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of organicmanuresand bio-fertilizerson yield and quality of Shami anise grown in AbyJarsh farm,Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus universityunder the environmental conditions of Damascus province. The antifungal effect of Shami aniseoil and its fruits extracts weretested against the growth of the fungus Candida albicans.The aim of this study was to determine the optimum type and the average dose of the fertilizer required to grow anise under the environmental conditions of the region. Six fertilization treatments were applied: Control(without fertilization treatment), organic manure 15 m3.h -1, organic manure30 m3.h -1, bio-fertilizer 10 ml per plant, bio-fertilizer 20 ml per plant , and a mixture of organic manure15 m3.h -1+ bio-fertilizer 10 ml per plant. In addition, the experiment aimed to determine the effectiveness of inhibitory influence, the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and the Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) of Shami anise oil and its alcoholic and water fruits extracts on the growth of the fungus,C.albicans which infects humans and causes chest pain, asthma and arthritis.The analysis of variance results showed significant effect of fertilizationtreatment on all of the studied traits (P≤ 0.05).The results showed that the organic manure30 m³.h-¹was significantly superior in plant hight, number of main branches of the plant, number of umbels, number of fruits in the umbels, the total dry weight of plant, and the weight of fruit per plant, the yield of fruits, biological yield, harvest index, oil yield per plant. On the other hand, the bio-fertilization 20 ml per plant revealed significant increase in the weight of 1000 fruits and the oil percentage comparing to the other fertilization treatments,the mixture of fertilizers (organic 15 m3.h -1+bio-fertilizer 10 ml per plant) gave significantly better yield comparing to applying them separately.The percentage of the Anethol showed significant positive relation with the fertilization treatments. The Experiment showed that the rate of theoil increased in all fertilizer treatments. The best results occuredin the organic manureand 30 m³.h-¹ and bio-fertilizer 20 ml per plant (92.71 and 92.45%) respectively.The results of microbiological studyproved that the fruits oil of Shami anise has more inhibitory effect compared to the alcoholic and the aqueous extract on the growth of the fungus Candida albicans,the results showedthat the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the oil of Shami anise on the fungus C. albicanswas 1.2%. However, the Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) of oil was 1.3%, as the fungus did not show any growth, and regarding alcohol fruitextract, (MIC) was 18.1% and (MFC) was 18.2%. The aqueous fruitextract of Shamianise did not show any inhibitory effect on the fungus even at its highest concentrations.
