Thickening of the posterior capsule after ECCE wasfound to occur in one third of patients over 5 years follow up.Number of methods used to avoid P.C.O. They includepolishing, surgical capsulotomy, & Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy.Although the posterior capsule can be opened at the timeof surgery (primary posterior capsulotomy) or subsequent assecondary procedure, a secondary YAG laser is preferred. It isnoninvasive procedure. It avoids primary capsulotomy, which isassociated with increased risk of complications. Unfortunatelythe issue is not settled because Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy isnot without complications.PURPOSE:The aim of the study was to measure the improvement invisual acuity after Nd: YAG laser, & to evaluate the immediatecomplications.METHODS: -An interventional pre and post study was done at Almaghrabyeye hospital at Khartoum state from Mach to November (2001).50 patients with PCO were studied.RESULTS: -Out of the 50 patients, 34(68%) showed improvement. Allcomplications were minor & reversible.CONCULOSION: -It was shown that none of the patients have drop of vision afterYAG laser; the majority showed improvement
