The Role of Discipline and its Impact on EFL Learners Learning Process.The Case of the First Year Students at University of M’sila

الملخص

AbstractThe present study is concerned with the exploration the role of discipline and its impact onEnglish as a foreign language (EFL) learners learning process. The aim behind this study is toexplore teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the role of discipline and its effects on thelearning process; as well as to investigate the positive and negative impacts of discipline caseof first year English language students at Mohamed Boudiaf University of M’sila. This studyconducted a quantitative approach; the data were collected through two research tools includinga teachers’ questionnaire and students’ questionnaire. The main results of this study shows thatboth teachers and first year English language students at Mohamed Boudiaf University ofM’sila have positive attitudes towards implementing classroom discipline. Moreover, thefindings also reveal that teachers strongly agree that classroom discipline has positive impactson students’ learning process. On the basis of the findings, a list of implications for curriculumdesigners, teachers, and students are suggested to consider and encourage classroom discipline.Finally, the research suggests some recommendations
