- The objective of this research is the isolation and identification the aflatoxinogenic Aspergillussection Flavi basing on some samples of almonds commercialized in Algeria. A total of 12 samples of 4 varieties of almonds (local shelled almonds, local unshelled almonds, shelled almonds and blanched almonds both imported from the United States) were drawn from popular markets in three regions of Algeria (Blida, Medea, Tipaza). The general approach that has been adopted is the statistical study of imported and local almonds consumption by Algerians .The obtained results of fungal analysis showed that the contamination rate of local almonds variety is higher (715,5.104cfu/g) (86%) than the imported one (116,8.104cfu/g) (14%). The highest rate of contamination (396.104cfu/g) (47.6%) was recorded in the local shelled almonds variety. The method disinfected grains is more interesting and can detect the percentage of internal contamination (deep). Internal contamination rates do not exceed 2% in all analyzed samples. The most fungal genera isolated were Aspergillus and Penicillium. They were found in all analyzed varieties with a frequency and abundance of (52.7%) and (47.3%) respectively of the total flora identified. The main isolated species which belong to Flavi sections, and Nigri sections of the Aspergillusgenus, were the most dominant ones with 56.1% and 43.4% respectively of the total of Aspergillus. The screening of 61 isolates of the Aspergillus section Flavi was determined on Coconut Agar Medium (CAM). The production was then confirmed by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The results obtained from CAM and TLC showed a rate of 11.5% and 39.3% (24 isolates) respectively. The study of morphological features and chemotype of the aflatoxinogenic Aspergillus section Flavi populations isolates indicates that this section is dominated by the species A. flavustypical (91.7%), one isolate (4.2%) A. parasiticus was isolated, and the presence of an isolate (4.2%) of A. flavus atypical, if it produces the CPA.
