Speaking skill is one of the essential skills. It is considered the core skill in language learning, but Iraqi learners encounter difficulties when speaking English as a foreign language. It is common to note that despite years of learning English language, most learners are unable to speak fluently. Speaking skill is so complex that its development depends on practicing the target language by using interactive methods and classroom activities. English language teachers do not focus heavily on teaching speaking skill. Accordingly, learners have less exposure to the target language; therefore, there is a need to explore a new strategy that focuses on the practical aspect of teaching speaking skill.The present study aims at investigating empirically the Effect of Using Fan-N-Pick Strategy on EFL 5th Primary Students' Achievement in Speaking Skill.Fan-N-Pick which is a cooperative learning strategy that can be used in the classroom to foster and increase collaboration and interaction between pupils, review a concept, demonstrate understanding of content, share information about a topic and refine communication skills. In this strategy pupils will work in groups to answer questions cards. Each group member will have a different role, it's designed to assure that all pupils are participating rather than only allowing one pupil to respond at a time.To fulfill the aims of this study, the researcher has adopted the following null hypothesis: There is no statistically significant difference between the mean score of the pupils who are taught speaking skill according to Fan-N-Pick strategy and that of the pupils who are taught speaking skill according to traditional methods.The experiment lasted for five weeks during the academic year 2019/2020. It started on 2020/5/20 and ended on 2020/6/28. The researcher has adopted a (pre-post) test as an experimental design. The population of this study includes 5th-grade pupils of primary schools in the Babylon Governorate for the academic year 2019/2020. The sample comprises (40) pupils of Al -Aqsaa primary school for boys.This school has two 5th grade classes. Class (A) was chosen to represent the experimental group (20 pupils), whereas class (B) represented the control group (20 pupils). The experimental group received the treatment based on the Fan-N-Pick strategy and taught by the researcher herself in the second course of 2019/2020. Both groups were matched in terms of pupils' age (measured in months), the academic achievement of the parents, pupils' scores in the mid-year examination and the subjects' scores inthe pre -test. It is worth mentioning that the researcher herself has taught the two groups the same subject.It should be noted that this experiment was conducted using e-learning,because of the spread of the Covid 19 virus and school closures, where the researcher used one of the social media programs(Telegram) to communicate with the pupils.An oral speaking test is designed and used as the (pre-post) test and exposed to a jury of experts to verify their face validity. Additionally, thirty pupils are randomly selected from from Al-mustansraia primary school, the pupils represent the pilot study sample. With regards to reliability, a Pearson Correlation Coefficient reliability of (0.94) is found on the basis of the responses to the speaking skill test. The researcher has administered the test to both groups. After the treatment of the statistical data by using the T-Test of the two separated groups, the findings show significant statistical differences between the experimental group and the control one at the level of speaking skill test in favor of the experimental group in the post-test, which indicate that Fan-N-Pick strategy is more useful and efficient in teaching speaking skill than traditional ones. In the light of the study findings, some pedagogical recommendations and some suggestions for further studies are put forward.

مهارة التحدث واحدة من المهارات الأساسية، بل تعد المهارة الأساسية في تعلم اللغة، لكن المتعلمين العراقيين يواجهون صعوبات في التحدث باللغة الإنجليزية بوصفها لغة أجنبية. من الشائع ملاحظة أنه على الرغم من سنوات تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية، فإن معظم المتعلمين غير قادرين على التحدث بطلاقة. تعتبر مهارة التحدث معقدة للغاية لدرجة أن تطويرها يعتمد على ممارسة اللغة الإنجليزية باستخدام الأساليب التفاعلية وأنشطة الفصل الدراسي. في الغالب لا يركز مدرسو اللغة الإنجليزية بشكل كبير على تدريس مهارة التحدث. بناءً على ذلك، يكون تعرض المتعلمين للغة الإنجليزية أقل؛ لذلك، هناك حاجة لاستكشاف استراتيجية جديدة تركز على الجانب العملي لتدريس مهارة التحدث. تهدف الدراسة الحالية إلى التحقق من تأثير استخدام استراتيجية البطاقات المروحية في تحصيل طلاب المرحلة الخامسة الابتدائية في العراق للغة الإنجليزية لغة أجنبية في مهارة التحدث. البطاقات المروحية هي إستراتيجية تعليمية تعاونية يمكن استخدامها في الفصل الدراسي لتعزيز وزيادة التعاون والتفاعل بين التلاميذ، ومراجعة المفهوم، وإظهار فهم المحتوى، ومشاركة المعلومات حول موضوع ما، وتحسين مهارات الاتصال. في هذه الإستراتيجية سيعمل التلاميذ في مجموعات للإجابة على بطاقات الأسئلة، سيكون لكل تلميذ في المجموعة دور مختلف، وهو مصمم لضمان مشاركة جميع التلاميذ لا أن يُسمح لتلميذ واحد فقط بالرد في كل مرة. لتحقيق أهداف هذه الدراسة، وضعت الباحثة الفرضية الصفرية الآتية: لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط درجات التلاميذ الذين تعلموا مهارة التحدث وفقاً لاستراتيجية البطاقات المروحية وتلك الخاصة بالتلاميذ الذين تعلموا مهارة التحدث وفق الأساليب التقليدية. استمرت التجربة لخمسة أسابيع خلال العام الدراسي 2019/2020. بدأت في 19/5/2019 وانتهت في 20/6/2019. اعتمدت الباحثة الاختبار (القبلي والبعدي) بوصفه أداة تجريبية. مجتمع هذه الدراسة شمل تلاميذ الصف الخامس الابتدائي في محافظة بابل للعام الدراسي 2019/2020. وتكونت العينة من (40) تلميذاً من مدرسة الأقصى الابتدائية للبنين، وهذه المدرسة بها فصلان من الصف الخامس. تم اختيار 20 تلميذاً من الصف (أ) لتمثل المجموعة التجريبية (20 تلميذاً)، بينما يمثل الصف (ب) المجموعة الضابطة (20 تلميذاً). تلقت المجموعة التجريبية التدريب على استراتيجية البطاقات المروحية ودرستها الباحثة نفسها في الفصل الثاني للعام 2019/2020. وتمت مطابقة المجموعتين من حيث عمر التلاميذ (بالأشهر)، والتحصيل الأكاديمي للوالدين، ودرجات التلاميذ في امتحان منتصف العام، ودرجات المواد في الاختبار التمهيدي. والجدير بالذكر أن الباحثة قامت هي نفسها بتعليم المجموعتين نفس المادة. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن هذه التجربة أُجريت باستخدام التعلم الإلكتروني، بسبب انتشار فيروس كوفيد-19 وإغلاق المدارس، حيث استخدم الباحث أحد برامج التواصل الاجتماعي (تيليجرام) للتواصل مع التلاميذ. تم تصميم اختبار التحدث الشفوي واستخدامه اختباراً قبلياً وبعدياً، ثم عرضه على هيئة محلفين من الخبراء للتحقق من صدق الوجه. كما تم اختيار ثلاثين تلميذاً عشوائياً من مدرسة المستنصرية الابتدائية، ويمثل التلاميذ عينة الدراسة التجريبية. فيما يتعلق بالموثوقية، تم العثور على معامل ارتباط بيرسون (0.82) على أساس الاستجابات لاختبار مهارة التحدث. أجرت الباحثة الاختبار لكلا المجموعتين. بعد معالجة البيانات الإحصائية باستخدام اختبار (T) للمجموعتين المستقلتين، أظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة الضابطة على مستوى اختبار مهارة التحدث لصالح المجموعة التجريبية في الاختبار البعدي، الذي يشير إلى أن إستراتيجية البطاقات المروحية أكثر فائدة وكفاءة في تدريس مهارة التحدث من تلك التقليدية. في ضوء نتائج الدراسة، تم عرض بعض التوصيات التربوية وبعض الاقتراحات لمزيد من الدراسات.
